Steadily Declining Rankings - Adult Site

Hi Guys,

I'm a long time follower and first-time poster here and I'm reaching out for some help with a site that's really got me scratching my head.

The site is an adult phone sex site that's been steadily declining in ranking since June last year. No matter what we try we just can't gain any traction. The most concerning thing about it is the competitor sites in which there seems to be no clear pattern as to why they rank above us.

Just to give you a rundown: -

• Generally speaking, competitors have a reasonable amount of backlinks, but many of them seem exceptionally spammy
• A small number of sites that outrank us have no link profile at all
• A number of the sites outranking us have issues such as broken images prevalent throughout their site
• Many of these sites have a lack of depth to their content in comparison to ours.
• One competitor historically ranked below or in similar position to us, but since January have surged to be one of the industry leaders.

The only recurrent theme amongst the top performing sites in the industry is that their images are much more revealing than ours or they have some other form of media, such as video or voice clip to keep users on the site longer. Do you think this could be the cause of our issue or am I way of the mark?

Throughout its history our site has only ever used white hat SEO techniques, but we're beginning to run out of ideas and wonder if it might be time to turn to the dark arts.
