Well it looks like I will be taking my business elsewhere before I ever really took it there (thankfully). I opened up a freelancer account and was all set to start hiring away but I am really really glad I came across these stories. It's amazing because they have recently acquired another large freelancing company and they appear to be growing. Yet they do this while scamming tons of their customers?

I've spent thousands and thousands on oDesk but I recently switched to Freelancer and I'm liking it a lot better. oDesk gives you almost no stats based on each freelancer. When I hire on Freelancer, I'm very confident in the hired freelancer as the stats are so insuring. They also have a free Escrow service. What more can you ask for? Decent company imho. Only complaint is when you're charged a % of money when you hire someone, even if the project is cancelled.

Do I get a vibe that i can come to freelancer , become a client and scam contractors? Odesk suks balls but this can't happen there, too. Both sides get scammed all the time. I might as well check the freelancer lol - not to scam anyone, just to be 100% sure i get protected as client

I agree 100% I have had a ton of bad experiences with freelancer customer service. long story short........

I use freelancer to get clients, once I come into contact with them I do business with them off freelancer.com and then there are NO FEES.
I've actually made a lot of money through my clients off freelancer... You guys are doing something wrong.

He might have some employee's time though... What's the problem for freelancer-like company to hire a person, give him BuzzBundle and let him chat with us?

This question is for freelancer users who claim to have their funds suspended or frozen. Do you use freelancer as service providers or as clients?
I have used freelancer for few months as client and I have no problem at all. They never charge my account small subscription without my permission. I really got shocked when I read all those bad reviews!!

Happy dealing outside the site itself? So that means the site isn't working as it should. In ebay for example I am happy to pay the % extra compared to alibaba o dhgate for the service ebay provides protecting me. I was happy paying 15% in vWorker! how do you explain that? here everyone dealing outside, millions of fake bids and fake employers, etc...

Freelancer's goal is to link up the employer and freelancer.
They make money by charging crazy high fees for the first project, and both parties do pay this cost as the parties do not trust each other yet.
Freelancer helps you build the trust, and then take your projects off Freelancer.

I have used freelancer and made some good connections on there, the only downside is like the op stated they charge me for nothing, I check my accounts and they are always taking 2-5$ out to the point that I have had to contact paypal and file claims because freelancer wont respond.

You should try their support, they respond to me in less than 24hrs everytime!
