Starting local SEO business

Hi guys!

I am thinking about launching a local SEO business. I want to be aiming at the smaller companies with low budgets at first. I do not need help with finding clients or closing the deal. I am quite a good salesperson.

But where I do need some help is what service exactly to offer. Do you guys offer various packages and what do they typically contain?

I am aiming at outsourcing all my services. Potential clients will be restaurants, doctors, lawyers, various stores etc.

Which books do you guys suggest to read (have read a lot) and can anyone give me like a set up of services you offer for seo? Who do you use on BHW for services?

I am sick of reading and have taken action on several BHW threads. Some succesful, some not at all. Now this is something I want to try out.

Thanks for any help. Just need to get started with which services to offer from who and stuff like that!

If you want to start an SEO service, the service you want to offer is.....SEO.
You can also upsell on Google Places, web hosting, email marketing, SMS marketing, reputation management, directory listings, and the list goes on.

You don't need to read any books. All you need is BHW.

If you are getting into SEO, I assume you have ranked sites before (if you haven't, I will advise against jumping into ranking for clients before ranking your own sites). Just do what worked for you in the past.
 
Yeah you are right. The websites I have ranked were all pretty easy to rank. No services or other things needed. They just ranked lol. So my seo skills are of a pretty awful level. Therefore I want to outsource everything. But I do need to get some skills in the on site seo. So I figured reading a book on white hat on site seo basics would work there.

But prefer to just outsource it all. I have read numerous threads and services, just cannot figure out which ones to use to be succesfull in local seo business.

I feel I will be better at providing these kind of services due to personal contact but need some pointers and stuff to get started to know which services work best for these results. Appreciate your help and the fact that you take the time to reply to my thread.
 
You might want to try to start ranking for some keywords yourself first before offering it as a service to others. The reason is because SEO isn't just throwing a shitload of links at a website while hoping it will rank. You need to come up with a strategy for each client that will work with their own specific campaign. The best way to learn SEO would be to do it yourself.

Instead of selling SEO services, you may want to think about starting a local website and starting The Dark One's website rental business model. This way, your sales skills will not be put to waste and you will be able to practice your SEO skills. If you haven't read it from start to finish, get reading ;). Later down the line, when you are confident in your SEO skills, you can start offering your services. Either that, or you just get a white label SEO company to work for you.

But yea, you have to learn a bit more before getting into SEO services, especially since it is becoming more and more complex at a faster and faster rate. You wont be able to judge which outsource channels will/wont work for you, or even which ones are/arent working for you currently, if you dont have a good understanding of what those peoples/companies need to be doing.

Send the personal mail to local client and make a press released,social media camping .............
 
sorry to say but its guys like you who give the industry a bad name... your willing to take cash from people when you dont know what your doing?!! i wonder if a surgeon could get away with that ;-)

Low budget clients hahahha these types of clients are the biggest payers...
maybe sell SEO? as its the business you want to set up...
 
^ Not sure if you guys noticed, but this thread is over 3 year old. You might as well be talking to yourselves.
 
I dont really agree with you. Do you really think warren buffet know everything about chemical before buying chemical company and turn it into profit. As long as he dont do it by himself and get someone expert to do it then it will be ok.
 
If you want to start your own local SEO business then first get your website domain. Put all the information about your company, services and contact details in that website. Then start promoting your website by selecting appropriate keywords from the Google keywords planner tool. And start doing their SEO, SMO, SEM and content promotion on website.

warren buffet have plenty of MONEY he made from other places, to pay experts to work for him good money.

Warren Buffet says in his quotes that he only invests in businesses he knows. Otherwise he would've gotten into Facebook but he didn't understand it so he didn't invest. If you don't know SEO, selling it to a client can work but in the end, it'll crash.
 
i would advise gaining alot of knowledge before trying this.

customers will want explanations on reports etc that you provide - simply telling them that you outsource wont be good enough
