People likes active/crowded forums. But my forum is new, so it's not active. How to attract peoples if your forum is new?

Create fake posts or pay for posts. Or both.

Postloop is a site where you can buy people to register and post for you.

Hope you're not building an IM forum...

Create some freebie or giveaway or however it's called. Terms: users of the new forum may win new iphone. Or they all get a free ebook. Something topical to the forum, of course. You can't sensitive home moms with boat engines. Then let world know about this giveaway: post in every thematic blog, forum or community.

    Hire few people to post.
Run few forum posting contests, that the highest poster of the month will win $XX.
Run few referral contests where people refers to people.
You will have to stay active like 18 hours too.

Follow SEO Power advices and you will never understand anything, all his posts are useless.

OP to start and promote your forum you need to know a lot of things in a lot of topics and before start you need to know marketing and promotion techniques, to be able to spread your content over the network.
First of all you need to create good content on the forum, we talk about topics that can really help your readers. Then you have to promote the forum through social networks, search engines and especially by word of mouth.

Think to BHW, you would have signed up if you had never found so many pointless thread and created by bots? No, because you signed up to participate in a community of persons who are interested in Seo and Marketing.
For this choose your niche and try to help people. After that promote your forum.

You can show up on related forums and blogs, write comments and invite community managers to join your forum. You can also use SMM and create different contests

According to my views,it is definitely a big challenge to grow a forum especially when competing with an established forum. The big challenge is how to word out and how to stay visitor .

    1. How to word out:

    a) you can start your own blog to get initial visitors and convert them into forum readers.

    b) You can start your with other forum and promote your own site on your signature.

    How to Stay users:

    1. To get users to stay and post is to offer a posting contest

Start putting good information on there, and push this out to social media. Work diligently at this, everyday, making quality posts and intelligent answers to the few people who show up there and in 5 or 10 years you will have a successful forum.

Forums are almost impossible to make work, unless you are insane about a subject, and have a core of other insane people who want and will participate in that forum.

A forum is like a pub or bar. No one wants to go to an empty, silent pub.

@arganrecords: And you call these useful posts? http://www.blackhatworld.com/blackh...l?tab=activitystream&type=user#activitystream

@all: My name is what haters love to mention, so keep on talking because I love the attention. I thought conspiracies only existed on the Warrior Forum.

I've always had an interest in creating a new web forum myself, but I haven't been able to create one yet (I still need to complete a few other websites).
However, if I were going to create a forum right now, this is what I would do:

    1. Study other forums. Find out what works for other people
    2. Establish an attractive and attainable ranking factor. Just take a look at how BlackHatWorld ranks its members. It's attractive and attainable!
    3. Create a team of "founding" members and use the forum to talk with them. Let's say you create a forum about how much you love furry wallets (sorry, I just named the first thing I saw on my desk) and you have 4 other friends who love furry wallets. Give your 4 friends a moderator status and use the forum to discuss about how much you love furry wallets. Only talk about furry wallets on that forum. Naturally, other people who love furry wallets will come to the website and see that it is active and before you know it, you'll have attracted a whole community of people who love furry wallets (just replace furry wallets with your website's category).
    4. Target potential forum members. Do you know where potential forum members hang out on the web? Is there a Facebook group that is related to your forum? If you have an idea of where they could be at, post ads on those websites to attract them.
This is all I can type for now, I just had a tumour removed from my wrist and it hurts to type. I hope this helps!

Yeah, it's a real pain in the arse to start a new forum... you have to hire somebody to create some activite at first and then hope that real people will join in... make sure you do proper analysis. I tried with a forum but I failed and it was a quite expensive mistake as I paid posters for a year.

At the starting you can hire a freelancer to create lot of high quality posts by using different accounts. Then you can run a campaign like first three highest number of poster will get prize. It may be $ or gadget or anything. Also create some backlinks on relevant forums and sites.
