Has anyone had any experience as freelancer with Upwork?

I submitted two proposal but no response? The client has spent $300-$500, so u know it’s not scammer.

if client hires someone else, do I get notification that job is filled. I’m tired of waiting

I do have a full time day, make enough $$ & don’t have time for another part time So i thought maybe small projects in side is good.

do you think this has impact on why I’m not getting accepted? As client might think I have full time & new?

I’m based in USA, got good resume, & offer low rates too

I’m make it clear in ad that I’m new trying to build portfolio that’s why my rates are low

Yes, you will have to wait for gaining your first order. Once you will get it, the rest will get a bit easier for you!

Having patience is the key here on Upwork!

The clients are like you, you have just started and don't want to work with somebody which have never spent money on the website,
clients are afraid to lose their money with a shitty result.

Good resume and low rates are not obviously the only required signs.
Good signs are making a proposal which shows that you really understand the client project, that you have already dealt with this kind of problems
and that you will give sometimes more than the client expect and sometimes more than the client has already thought about.

There's no magic number but 2 proposals is really nothing, I had to make more than 50 proposals before I got my first job.
Someones needs sometimes many more to get their first one.

Is it required to add education and current job history? I’m in accounting and looking for IT work on side. Will someone say why I’m doing It work? I am computer savvy person so I can do a lot of data entry in excel or web scraping

It's better I think to fill your work history to looks more real.

You can create specialized profile, so create one for each kind of skill you want to target and think about select the good one each time you make a proposal.

I created personalized profile, doesnt job history and education stays same?

plus I’m not applying for jobs that are high rate for client to worry about their risk. It’s $20-$100 jobs

I had 2 proposal & now it says 1. Does that mean client hire somone else or closed that posting

I'm making some decent money on Upwork. You won't see much progress with just two proposals. I suggest you go all in and for the first month keep bidding with different pitches to see what works for you.

Don't mention that you're a newbie on your Upwork profile. Design your profile to look like you're in business since a decade. Hire yourself from a different profile and get full five star ratings.
