Don't really know if someone will be interested, but I'll try anyway... I have read a lot about Shopify and how to make a successful store using FB ads, so I want to give it a try, but don't feel comfortable in doing this alone, as it will be my first important venture in IM. If you're interested in tagging along or even just discussing ideas and opening parallel stores, feel free to write me a PM. Ideally, we'll exploit free trials as much as possible, and if things don't go reasonably well we'll cut our losses and rethink the whole thing.

Things I have
- Good command of english
- A master's degree in editing and journalism, covering advertising and new media

Things I don't have
- The motivation to do this alone
- Experience in actual marketing, online or offline
- Website-designing skills

Judging by what you'll bring to the table, we could share expenses and profits equally, or you may contribute with just your work. That's all, folks.

Hey, I have been planning on opening estore for quite some while now. Except I was going to go with WooCommerce and not Shopify. Didnt feel like throwing money cause I dont have much experience. I already have webhosting and a domain where I've been testing all kinds of stuff with design/ecommerce plugins... I did also choose to go with FB Ads if I went through with this.
I will wait to hear from you and im willing to share more details.

Hi there,

I've been thinking of opening a store for a while. I currently have 1.5 million followers across 3 accounts on Instagram that I could use to drive traffic. I have some ideas regarding what my followers would buy. If you're interested in some sort of JV or even a chat, let me know via PM :)

Unless you are 100% sure of your source and the ability to deliver do not set up a store selling physical products as your first go. Sell digital products that can be downloaded.

i dont think thats a great idea with paypal...if anyone wants their money back you're screwed

You are talking Shopify here - do you think you have more of a problem with a digital product or say if someone orders a say phone, you buy it, then the order does not arrive?

My point is don't set up a physical store unless your are 100% sure the product can be delivered and is what it says.

So if you are new digital is better because at least you can control the product and delivery.

If you have no experience of retail - like the op - unless you use a reputed provider you will have way more problems than worrying if someone gets your digital product for free if you ship untried physical products.

ur right, but i meant with physical product you can provide the tracking number so you can get your money faster, but with digital products there is really no proof

You mean the made up tracking number from china post? And you think Paypal are going to say well that's ok you don't have to refund the buyer because you have a tracking number? Non delivery and returns on physical products are a complete pain in the arse and they come with a real cost to the store owner, unlike digital products.

People have the right to return physical products not just digital as well and you have to cover that cost.

Unless you have experience or are working with a reputed partner I would not go anywhere near a Shopify store and the problem with working with a reputed partner, is there are no decent profit margins.

So if I was the op I would set up a digital store. The easiest thing to sell are things like social media followers. The first store I ever did was selling twitter followers years ago and they make tons of profit if you can spin it right. With his ad writing skills I am sure he can do that.
