Hello community! I was recommended this site by a friend in regards to photoshop seeing how so many of you are professionals and highly skilled. I'm hoping to use a picture I had taken for a website, just the background gradient needs to be replaced by complete transparency (it's for a footer). I tried a couple of times with software like The GIMP but I can't get a result that doesn't look like it was done by a 2 year old. I'm certainly no artist and have next to no experience with image editing software sadly.
If it's not too much to ask I was wondering if anybody could help me out here? I know it's my first post and all but I can't imagine many of you would find this a big, time consuming job.

EDIT: 2 Oh never mind for now then as it turns out there is a time requirement before posting links/pictures
