Sold My First Website

Hey Guys,

I sold my first website today.
It was for a friend that have a barber company. With this website the users can make an appointment without calling/texting him.

It was very cheap, cause he is friend and it is my first website. Since he got a lot of contacts he can reffer my service to others barber shops.

The price was $30 + $4 for month ( I dont live in USA).
Im using Free AWS and will try to pick a free domain .tk or something alike (he agreed with that).

Now, i need a name for my brand. What are the keywords for dev + marketing ?

dont go for .tk, after a year they will screw your domain name and will ask for money.

Yeah, have fun getting a .TK, their website has been broken for ages, freenom is horrible, go google them for reviews.

Also, if you want to look slightly professional you either take a .com or your local extention, even with all the NTLD's, .com and local domain are still the most popular and recognizable ones.

There are no specific KW for your brand. It can literally be anything. Bing, google, yazoo, these aren't even words. Either come with something that sounds nice or just pick a word and add design behind it or something.

I always wonder if newbies can make sites than doesn't instantly scream newbie PM me some links

Yo should go for domains : "xyz" or "online". These are cheaper than .com and it isn't bad.

look's like .dev has a lot of words avaliable for domain.

building up a small portfolio, even if for free or very little money, is great... next try freelancer.com or similar and maybe you can get more paid work

Aight some basic pointers man. You are wasting "above the fold"which is the area you first see on desktop or mobile, that's the place where you need to trigger people with a catchy text and a link to some page, or a CTR button for whatever but it's the first impression that counts and above the fold is the first impression for a visitor and the best spot for marketing.

Make your own favicon. Never put in the footer, "Build with" in your case "Build with Beaver Builder". Beaver Builder is quite good even though I'm using elementor, don't use DiVi it's for noobs. Overall design is quite monotone and not much going on but practice makes perfect. You can do a lot with a barber shop although I must admit a lot of sites even in 2020 looks bad.

As long as people use search machines like google it's important your site just looks good, it's your business card.

Also there is no harm at looking at the competition to get some inspiration.

A few months back I was actually working on a new guide for BHW, The Ultimate WP A to Z guide but got demotivated as it seems I'm stuck with rank even though I contributed hell of a lot more than some guys. Maybe I'll make a poll and see if people are interested in such a guide.
