Adobe after effects is amazing if you learn how to use it , plenty of tutorials online to get started.

If you're willing to pay for it then sony vegas or adobe after effects, easy to learn and they offer great tools. Though if you want something free, then you're out of luck. I've never seen any freeware video editing software that'd be worth a dime.

Premiere and AE are the way to go. I just download the Creative cloud trial and do a system recovery every 30 days, they're that important to me.

Sony vegas is easier to learn however, if you plan on doing a lot of effects eventually, I would seriously consider going with adobe premier and after effects. They work together seamlessly so you can cut your videos then directly import the clips into after effects and add your effects and color correction/grading then render in premier. If you go with vegas you will have to render your clips out, import into after effects, add effects color correction/grading, render, bring clips back into vegas and render again. You waste a lot of time and lose a lot of quality with so many renders.

well, use adobe premiere pro, it's very easy. When u get used to it, just view some tuts about After Effects. If you can learn AE, you can be very rich, I mean like the "whiteboard template" is already in high demand by a lot of people. So I'd suggest you to learn Adobe Premiere Pro+After Effects.

If you are looking to progress into the industry, you will need to brush up on your Adobe skill set. Final Cut X is diminishing in the industry, although it is a very powerful tool

Adobe Premiere Pro is fast becoming the industry standard across the creative industries, simple because of it's UI and streamlined processes.

If you are looking to do music videos, the dynamic link between Premiere and After Effects will blow you away.

There are a considerable amount of benefits to using the Adobe suite.

There is an incredible case study on Premiere Pro for the edit of Gone Girl, which can be found here;

http://blogs.adobe.com/premierepro/2014/10/gone-girl-marks-yet-another-milestone-for-adobe-premiere-pro-cc.html

They actually had members of the Adobe team in the edit with them live, altering the program to their needs as they were going.

But to round this off, Premiere would be my recommendation.

Adobe After Effects is the best. It has a huge user base in the motion graphics and animation sectors, and Adobe After Effects CS6 enables you to deliver more cinematic visual effects and sophisticated motion graphics than ever before!

iMovie comes installed on every new Apple computer or can be purchased separately within Apples iLife software suite.

from my own experience Sony Vegas is best video editing software. It is easy to use and give a best result.

iMovie ftw, easier than movie maker to use and production quality is just unbelievable.
