I like Adobe After Effects. If you are familiar with Photoshop you will learn AE in a few weeks.

Almost every commercial tool can do most of the things.
You can try Final cut pro, Media composer, Adobe premiere + Aftereffects, Vegas, etc
Though some need dedicated rigs/cards etc..

He's not using software, he's using PowToon, it's a website with ready to use elements and animations. I tried in the past, is a nice tool.

Sony Vegas is a good and easy software! Premiere is more complex, but better!

Sony Vegas is easy to learn and has enough power to get all yor editing tasks done (imho better and easier to grasp than premier). For eyecandy, you won't get far without after effects, it's just the leader of the pack with lots of plugins and templates for unbelievable nice effects.

After affects, speed grade, I believe photoshop cs6 allows you to also edit video now. Adobe premiere is great.

Audio is important as well, I use an Sm7b into a decent preamp---->protools 9 or logic. Logic is great because there are a ton of loops that sound amazing. You wouldnt need to be a musician at all.
