So many useless posts

I feel as if there is a big problem on this forum of people posting only to get their post count up. Some accounts in specific have very high post count but I see time and time again them just posting useless posts. They write tons of things like "I will let you know if I find out", "I also want to do this", "Maybe google will help", etc... Or, they simply copy other's answers bringing nothing new to the thread. Or, they give answers that are simply wrong and un-researched, I see a LOT of misinformation spread just to get post count up. I won't point anyone out in specific.

Now there's nothing wrong with someone posting something like "I also want to do this" or "Have you tried searching google?", but when you see that they pretty much only post posts like that, it really kind of de-values some of the threads on this forum.

I am all for trying to get as much activity on the forum as possible, but I would prefer less activity but more useful activity.

I know we have a "thanks" system, which is great so you can really see if someone is a contributing member, but I don't think that's enough. There's a difference between someone who participates a lot but doesn't contribute a lot (maybe 500 posts but only 50+/- thanks) and someone who participates a lot ONLY to higher their post count for reputation (still might land at 500 posts but only 50+/- thanks).

Much like indicating that a post is useful by giving it a "thanks", I think that there should be a way to indicate that a post is useless, so someone wouldn't be able to build up their reputation by posting numerous completely useless posts.

Those are the same exact stats. What are you comparing here?

I agree that there is a lot of filler on here, and I do agree that 10 extremely high quality posts beats 1,000 useless posts any day, but when well over half the board doesn't know what the fuck they are saying, or are only spamming in order to PM, what you do expect will happen?

Post uselessness is relative. What may be useless to you may be useful to a seller. The best option, instead of whining in this section, is to counteract the uselessness with your own contributions, which I see you have very few.

My point is that the stats would be the same. If someone comes and posts a bunch of posts for the sole purpose of getting their post count up, while it's obvious, it won't show any difference from someone who posts when they have questions, or to actually participate even though they're not posting anything useful.

I've only just started participating in these forums, so I don't have many contributions nor much participation yet, but I don't post just to post.

I'm not whining, I believe you misread the purpose of this post. I'm suggesting something, which is the purpose of this sub-forum. If you don't agree with me, I appreciate your feedback but I don't think it's necessary to call this "whining".

ok this is nice, I will let you know mate.

but really... the problem is that this forum has been overrun by people from a couple of useless countries which fuck everything up as always,I wont name the countries as I will get negged by those retards but everyone already knows what I'm talking about... a few years ago this was actually a decent forum ,nowadays this is DP 2.0 !

Usually, the best way to ensure high quality content is by making the site private/invite only with some type of interview for anyone unable to get invited.

There are obviously loads of problems with this method, such as less activity, less members, less ad revenue for the owners etc. But it is a great way to build a high quality community as long as you have some way of recruiting new members that you can trust.

one thing i have to admire about a user who complains about quality
is when we take a look at you, what have u provided of quality that allows
you to judge others?

0 posts input 2010 - 2014 .
3 posts in 2014 - 10 in 2015 - and 60 in the last month, might i advise dont
complain about the quality if u yourself have done little of quality yourself

a 6 year member with almost no activity no input - complains because
of a lack of quality, well instead of complaining, do something of this
quality you speak of, or do do u just pop in every few years hoping to
find some quick money scheme then bugger off for another 2-3 years
while complaining.

if you had been an active PARTICIPATING user posting quality content
for many years, then uve earned an opinion here, but a few posts here
n there.

complain when uve earned it and done something for the community

The issue with this is useful information is hidden behind the useless posts. Yes, business is ok. but personal messages and idle posts can make people get bored of the forum. Just my opinion, you may fee otherwise.

Unfortunately the forum rules itself encourages this kind of behavior, eg. to be able to send/receive PM you need to have a certain amount of posts, to be a jr vip you need more posts etc.
So no surprise for me.

Yes, OP people here are mini modding every now and then!

When someone post a new thread and the posted thread is in wrong place, people just bash the guy with useless comments, instead of just reporting the thread to be moved.

You know it's funny, it didn't tell me that I needed to have a certain amount of posts to post in the suggestion sub-forum. There must be an error with the forum.

You don't need to be a member to see the posts here on BHW so why you would say I've been a member just to "find some quick money scheme" confuses me.

I'm not complaining about a lack of quality. I think that I'm being misunderstood here. I just thought there should be a rating system much like thanks but for leaving negative rep. This has nothing to do with what I personally have or have not contributed.

There used to be a rating system but it was abused by many so called reputed members of the forum :)

How will you admire the quality and value of the diamonds if there is no mudsh!t around them that you must remove|ignore|report?

the rep system was removed a few years ago due to abuse
