I feel as if there is a big problem on this forum of people posting only to get their post count up. Some accounts in specific have very high post count but I see time and time again them just posting useless posts. They write tons of things like "I will let you know if I find out", "I also want to do this", "Maybe google will help", etc... Or, they simply copy other's answers bringing nothing new to the thread. Or, they give answers that are simply wrong and un-researched, I see a LOT of misinformation spread just to get post count up. I won't point anyone out in specific.
Now there's nothing wrong with someone posting something like "I also want to do this" or "Have you tried searching google?", but when you see that they pretty much only post posts like that, it really kind of de-values some of the threads on this forum.
I am all for trying to get as much activity on the forum as possible, but I would prefer less activity but more useful activity.
I know we have a "thanks" system, which is great so you can really see if someone is a contributing member, but I don't think that's enough. There's a difference between someone who participates a lot but doesn't contribute a lot (maybe 500 posts but only 50+/- thanks) and someone who participates a lot ONLY to higher their post count for reputation (still might land at 500 posts but only 50+/- thanks).
Much like indicating that a post is useful by giving it a "thanks", I think that there should be a way to indicate that a post is useless, so someone wouldn't be able to build up their reputation by posting numerous completely useless posts.
