Well, This is the hardest problem every parent faces for most of the period. One major thing which you need to remember is "Imitation". Kids start to imitate parents or family members, so what ever they learn in the initial stage of life it starts from home.

So, If you want your kid to be truly himself infront of you, you just be that by yourself infront of him. (IF YOU WATCH TELEVISION, HE LEARNS IT FROM YOU ) IT I SO SIMPLE, BUT VERY COMPLICATED.

The only possible way to know if you are a good parent or not, is to wait and see. If your kid turns out to be a good person with their shit together, then you are a good parent. If your kid turns out to be a serial killer, then you are a shitty parent.
