If you use wordpress, you may face bottleneck, if the customer requirements are very high. but it will take time.
If customer is clear with its requirement. Just go with wordpress. Find a suitable plugin, may be premium. It will be done in 7 days max

The Wordpress source code is in Php, so if you master that, you got that going for you.
It all depends on the needs of the client.
What do they need?
Just a static website?
With a blog?
Or do they need to take reservations? Etc. ...
I like Wordpress, but I'm getting a little annoyed with the constant "updates",
especially with Woocommerce.

I would suggest you to go with WordPress and WP is also a php based website using javascript.
With WordPress you can do a lot more things, no matter how many things you want to add you can do so by using WordPress plugin.
I believe there are all types of plugin available and most of them you can get for free. Also, you can have a WordPress theme that gives an immense look as well as Google loves WordPress.
