I run an event hosting company with about 1000 regular attendees. I recently purchased twilio to send opt-in subscribers, upcoming event info but realized shortly after purchasing a plan it is not at all what i expected. I was expecting a user friendly platform for which I could give my attendees a phone number to text opt-in and these phone numbers would be added to a subscriber list where I could periodically send them event info.

As far as short vs long code, what ive gathered is that short code allows me to send out far more messages faster and more frequently. Is there more to it then that?
My ultimate question being, is there such a platform that someone with no experience can operate and accomplish what I am trying to do? It will take a while to get all 1000 attendees to subscribe. I am imagining it wont be more than a couple hundred subscribers for a number of months. So I need a plan/platform to send 1-2 texts per week to about 200 members, relatively easily. With preferable automation for keyword replies such as "subscribe" and "STOP".

Not entirely sure how this relates to SMS marketing or sending out event updates to opt-in customers...?

SMS marketing is one of the best marketing strategy introduced ever, I also have been using this strategy because everyone has mobile phone in this era and wants to get updates of their favorite brands, This is also best for small business owners to advertising their new products.

SendHub is what you're looking for. They've got a business SMS system built ontop of Twilio that does what you need, including send/receive, subscriptions and list management.

Twilio is just an API - you'll need an interface to go with it. You can either roll your own or use something like SendHub.

And you're right about shortcodes - they're better suited for bulk messaging, but they're expensive. For your purposes you'll be fine using a longcode. You'll want to use a shortcode when you're sending >200 messages a day as you'll run into issues with carriers blocking your messages.

You can take a look at Ozeki NG SMS Gateway. Although it hasn't got so impressing GUI like Twilio has, but it is absolutely reliable. This is an SMS gateway software allowing you to use your computer to send and receive SMS messages to and from mobile devices.

If you are still looking for an interface I have one developed. Love to show you around if you'd like. We've also developed strategies but I would agree long numbers are the way to go. Whenever I get a short code text I always delete it. We can also connect your long number to a biz telephone number you can have people answer live. Works like a charm.

What about the business/company name instead of long number, wouldn't be more attractive for a reader to read the text and respond to it?
