SMS Marketing

Since we are talking Mobile let talk about the future also. I posted this in another thread thought it might trigger some grey matter into action.

Yes there is and its much better than what you asked for in your post.

MobileText Marketing is about to Explode onto the worlds 4.6 Billion mobile phones, compare that to 1.7 billion internet accounts and you can quickly see where the next BIG trend will be.

The world is moving to mobile phones, the new generation of Mobile Phones offer far more than just calling, they now have Text and emailing, plus video viewing, internet access and more.

Over 90% of all text messages get seen, compare that to emails less than 5% and 90% of emails are spam.

75% of mobile phone users admit they cannot live without their phone.
More than 95% of teenagers wouldn't be seen dead without one.

It is the No1 personal electronic accessory.

Huge money was made in the early Boom time days of,
faxing,
emailing,
websites,
Dotcom,
Online video,
texting,
Online shopping
WEB2.0,
Social media,

Everything above will fail in comparison to whats about to happen when mobile phones start to do most everything that can be done via the internet and more.

More and more Twitter and Facebook users access their accounts through their mobile instead of a desktop or laptop computers.

1.8 Billion people with access to the internet just became small compared to the 4.6 Billion Mobile users and lets not forget that these 4.6 Billion phones are being constantly carried around in someone's pocket or purse and not sitting on a desk somewhere.

Commercialism via mobile phones is about to EXPLODE just ask Pizza hut and Domino's who revenue's Exploded when they introduced the mobile phone apps.

There's more to come but the question is how do we as individuals cut ourselves in on a piece of the actions and make Bank ?

Remember this, the money is where the most eyeballs are and there are 3 x as many eyes directly fixed at mobiles everyday than anything else currently..

Mobile Text Marketing / Direct response mobile marketing is coming.

Just look at what American Idol achieved with text messaging.

Google voice - set up multiple accounts and away you go..

And dominodivine is right, people are not ready to start pulling out credit cards for text offers, but they will fill out offers that only ask for contact information.. You have to find the right offers, what may work through e-mail may not work as well through sms.

Mobile marketing is the new tread of marketing products because of uses of mobile phone. According to recent survey about 90% US people read sms and this shows how people interested in mobile. Sending sms through shared short code or own brand short code to customer helps to reach your products to customer. I just got my text mailer software finished up, and I want to eventually give away a free demo to all Black Hatters that sends out at least 100 texts per day. This software has such features as opt-in/out, receiving module, and multiple SMTP options. If you want more details please PM me.

One thing is for sure. You need to be able to send to any cell phone provider in the world, and send an unlimited amount of mail completely on auto-pilot. Text marketing definitely leaves a memorable impression on any person, because your text does not get lost in a sea of mail, like you do when you send email. But don't even think of spam texting; you can get into serious legal trouble! Eventually you will be traced back through your payment link. There is just no way around this.

One of my local competitors uses SMS marketing for Pizza restaurants with great success. I can't get him to tell me how yet, but I do know he charges 10% of the increased sales. He's trying to do the same for some fast food places as well and as far as I know, he's making an easy $5 or 6K a month.

One of the biggest cons about text marketing is that you probably wont be billing your customers through their cell phones, unless you want to spend about $500 per month on a damn short code.

But some of the pros are that you can have instant communication with your subscribers, and you can give them your contact information such as a link, email address, or phone number so that they might make a purchase off your web site later.

I promote sms advertising service recently, but its hard for me to get clients who wants to use my service. I think most business owner still not interested with this

I do agree with you on this one. Still a few years away I guess.

Guys there are many services online where you can create an account, and they give you a number where people can opt in by sending a particular keyword. I would forget about using real phones and sims etc for SMS marketing...make use of these services. When people text your keyword to your number, it works like an autorepsonder. And after the initial message, you can send your "list" any message you want...
On top of this, the company pays you a percentage of the premium fee..

The trick comes in to try and build that list...

A good way may be a twist on the ASDA method mentioned here before...print flyers out saying they can claim a free $200 (ASDA/Wallmart whatever) voucher by texting the KEYWORD to your premium number. Hand the flyers out at ASDA/or wherever stores. When people text the number, they get a message back with a link to a CPA offer (maybe an email submit) to win an ASDA/whatever voucher.
BAM: You just killed three birds with one stone...you get about 40% of the premium SMS charge, you earn CPA commissions when people complete the offer, and you building on your SMS list to market to later!

The problem with these services is that they are so expensive for local businesses. It is hard to justify much more beyond their fees for you as the IM Consultant.

I am going to agree with everyone that says that there is big money in the sms game, BUT...I have a large file of cell phones that i manage for a well known site and we cant make anything off the names. The site i manage collects 30k phones a day and their completely compliant with the mma guidelines. Still, without a solid campaign to run, we are stuck with the mobile cpa offers which are tough to make any money off. I got everything up and running for what i thought was going to be easy money. I got my gateway set up, had my tech design three pieces of software for sending/extracting/carrier info on cell phones, and then the monthly charge i paid for buying the cell phones before i started managing this other file.

So, big con is that if you dont have a client like a restaurant or a golf courese then you will have a tough time making any money. Especially if you are paying the aggragate gateways minimum $2k to send out messages a month.

I have done it black hat method and white hat method...right now both are tough to convert, so before you jump into it, i would suggest you look hard at obtaining a few clients that have interest. That is one of the reasons i keep doing it...i have a few clients that pretty much break even my investment each month. AND the fact that i want to be right there with the gateways when all hell breaks loose and everyone is clammering for sms.

If you have any questions, i have only been at it for roughly 5 months, but can probably point you in the right direction.

I did an experiment one day where I called about 20 marijuana dispensaries in town and I asked them if they would invest in my mobile marketing venture, and many of them were extremely interested and wanted more info. These dispensaries are very saturated over here, and these business owners see the tough competition out there. The whole thing came to a screeching halt when some of them said something about the fact that they could not advertise because of certain guidelines or laws or something like that. But who knows if they are right. After that I went onto another venture, and have not gotten back to researching the advertising guidelines that these businesses must follow.
