Sitting is Killing you!

"Likelier" shouldn't be a word.

I'm not sure I believe everything that's been presented here. Some people live their lives in chairs. Steven Hawking would have died a long time ago if this was all true.

Judging by the info OP posted im surprised im still alive. Im a healthy weight though so not all doom and gloom

And did you see how unfit all the wheelchair competitors were in the London Marathon - especially the guy who won!

One day finally all gonna die.. But everyone must cross the 70 and 95 degree sitting position for a while in school days.. when compared to that we are safe now.. lol

Here you go:

Since I just saved your life, the least you can do is order thru my link....

eat, sleep, shit, long drive home, tv, movie, bhw = die.

kidding aside good read! :D

parley? :D

solution is to get up and do some manual work instead of spending it near computer :)

Well...sitting like 12 hours/ day in front of a computer is sedentary life...

This is bad science I'm afraid and they have misinterpreted their data.

Sitting does not make you fat and sitting does not increase your chances of dying.

Replace 'sitting' with 'a sedentary lifestyle and bad diet' and there's your answer.

People with a sedentary lifestyle and a bad diet are clearly going to have the health issues listed in the infographic.

ALL people sit. And yes, this demographic sits more, but sitting is not the problem, it's the diet and lifestyle.

If all data was interpreted this way we could say that breathing causes cancer, diabetes and ebola.

When I first started in I.T I was sitting A LOT. 8-12 hours a day almost. Started to develop back problems amongst other things. I make it a point to get up and walk around now. Luckily I am in a position where I can go outside and walk for 20 minutes sometimes twice a day.

This infographic is bullshit.

I talked to my doctor about this once and he asked me "when you sit, do you sit still most of the time or do you move around a lot?" I answered him honestly and said, "I never really stop moving, I'm always shaking my legs, moving my arms, kneeling on the chair, stretching.... sometimes I even grab the dumbbells and workout in my chair".

Then he asked, "do you move around cause you're stressed out all the time?". And I said, "no I love my job... if anything I move cause it excites me".

Then this is what he said and I'll never forget it.

He said, "son, I happen to serve a lot of cops in this office because my brother has been an officer for 30 years. Some cops sit in their car all day some are on their feet walking all day". But then he went on to explain how most of the cops he's treated had extremely high blood pressure, high cholesterol, high everything. He also told me that *stress at the workplace* should be a much larger concern.

Then he went on to tell me how many cops and social workers he's seen who had heart attacks or strokes before they even reached 50.

So I'm pretty sure that a stressful job will kill you 100xs faster than sitting. :)

Sit for 10~ hours then lift/workout like a MF for 1 hour, and it's alright.

I got this information from my Doc few years before. I was shocked to know that Heart-attack can easily cause me if I work like a dump sitting idle in my chair for more than fours.

But, for a IM guy, he/she need to stay online without moving aside to be updated. I got an Adjustable table for my use which can gives us different position.

To avoid this issue, I made my employees to have their comfort cabin which need to make them work happy and also healthy. This add me a Beneficiary of making my Employees work for an extra time and too Enthusiastic. lol
