Site is 9 days old continually backlinking but no change.

Then can you tell me how it works? :)
That would be too time consuming unfortunately. Read and learn.

What do you mean with that exactly?
Google DMOZ. Read and learn.

Are you sure that SEO is the way to go for you?
Probably your website is full junk links, whatever...
But if you are so smart what does affect SERPS?? Black Magic, the tooth fairy?? Or how does it work?

Since Panda, updated fresh content (not only words these days anymore).
Put one fresh article (or any new stuff) on your site everyday and see it climbing the SERP for each page for their (around) 4% density keywords.
Then stop for a couple of weeks and see it dropping little by little, no matter the number of backlinks.

Anyway, I still have no solution about what I did in my post above if you believe you understand well SERP with Google. Still waiting.

We are not talking only about the number of backlinks

What niches do you populate? the ones whit 2-3 people searching per 30 days.. What you are saying does not aply in real life, sorry friend..

Fair enough, so how backlinks make a better position in SERP?
Can you prove me wrong in my post #14 above with your source?

If that was true, blogs would dominate EVERY keyword; ecommerce sites with static content wouldn't be able to compete.

Fresh content may play a part in google's algorithm but backlinks are still king.

Well like I said google shows only fraction of the backlinks the sites have .. the sites you posted have much more links than you posted lol .. That proves you know nothing about seo bud .. don't want to be rude or something ..

The other thing is the number of backlinks don't guarantee page 1 .. If you have only shitty links most likely you'll not see improvements

There's many sites that do not update but are on the top positions

And much more but I don't see reason to continue argue with you

Like I said if you know what you're doing for your sites and you are satisfied then great

Good Luck

Exactly what happen with my sites. My blog skyrocketed while my ecommerces traffic - 67 of them - went from 300,000 uniques/month to less than 10,000

I just want to learn what other know and I don't, so I can improve.
I know G doesn't show all backlinks. And I'm pretty sure there is a reason for that.
Therefore, it is necessary to compare what's comparable.
You're right as far as I'm concern, backlinks doesn't guarantee page 1. See post #14 for testing. You may have a 0 backlink and be in page 1 while having dozens and be page 3. We're agree on this.
And no, I don't know what I'm doing because lots of things said on webmaster forum are exactly what does not happen in real life.

Again, no one is able to show me otherwise while I have proven my point.

Ok, let's say I'm wrong. Fair enough. Then I need explaination on what I did.
I made 3 random searches on Google:

1) Miami real estate.

The #3 on page 1 is miamirealestate dot com and has 17 G backlinks
The #4 on page 3 is miamism dot com and has 84 G backlinks

2) pearl sugar.

The #7 on page 1 is belgianpearlsugar dot com and has 1 G backlinks
The #4 on page 2 is lars dot com and has 3 G backlinks.

3) Life is a bitch

The #6 on page 1 is aleroy dot com / bitch dot htm and has 0 G backlink.
The #10 on page 10 is www dot lifesabitch dot com dot au and has 2 G backlinks

so how backlinks make a better position in SERP?
I guess I'm missing something here.

Of course, I'm talking here about Google, making searches on Google and SERP position on Google

The # of backlinks doesn't mean shit.
The quality of the backlink means everything.
I'm not talking about a PR5 Homepage link vs 200 PR1 Blog Comments,
I'm talking about a quality Relevant link, over "quality" links that don't have shit to do with the site.

If backlinks don't help in SERP's, Enlighten me...what does?
You think that I can start a new site, add content every day, and rank #1 for my term?

Agree. I have a site #1 on google with 2 irrelevant backlinks and see dozens of other sites with more quality relevant links behind mine. So that's another clue showing that backlinks doesn't move SERP.

I don't know. I'm asking. I know (and now we know) it's not the backlinks.
And for your second question, yes, it's happenning to me since few weeks now (panda?).

I think you misunderstand me. I don't agree that backlinks are irrelevant.
I think the examples you are giving have more to do with competition than anything else.

Start a blog about car insurance, post everyday, and tell me when you hit the first page for "car insurance".

Big G cares much more about the sites that show up in the SERP's for "car insurance" than they do for "Life is a bitch".

Those were just example. I don't want to go any further.
Nobody has been able to show me how backlinks move a site up in SERP while I showed examples of the contrary. Until it happens, I'll stand by the facts.

Site is around 15 days old now. Still not seeing any increase in ranking. I continually move from 21-26 but never moving to page #2.

I've done a lot of seo work for my site since then probably went a bit overboard for a micro niche but idk.

I made 4 web 2.0 properties.

Squidoo
Weebly
Tumblr
Gather

I also did some small bookmarking and I just order two 100 .edu PR blog packages off Fiverr. We'll see if within the next week or so this helps at all.

I don't know if I agree with Cody. Not adding content certainly does not affect SEO adding new content might help though I don't know. This is just from my experience, which admittedly is small.

I've analyzed some of the competition for my keyword. There is a site that is ~ 3 months old ranking for the same keyword as me.

He is literally only ranking #11 for one Ezine article and that's about it. All of his posts are pretty much all on the same day and he hasn't added anything new in 1-2months.

My onsite SEO is 10x better than his with 4 keyword rich articles and video. He has a large picture, 1 article & a few Youtube videos.

My site and links are better than his but Google refuses for me to raise rank. I don't know if I'm doing something wrong or I just need to wait. It would be cool to have someone take a look at my site.

The only thing that I can think of that might be hurting me is affliate links. I have 1 amazon link per page idk if that affects anything.

Anyhow looking forward to hearing some feedback :)

Also Traffic Travis is reporting that it is "extremely difficult" to rank for my keyword. I don't know how reliable Traffic Travis s for analyzing that sort of thing, but ya.

The #3 on page 1 is miamirealestate dot com and has 17 G backlinks

type in google
PHP:

You will get 64,300 result pages with link to the above site. Google does not show all the links when you type link:. Why would it? Theres no point. if a owner of the site wants to find out backlinks they can just go to webmaster tools.

oh and saying that backlinks do not move serps is the dumbest thing I have ever heard on bhw.

and to the op moving from 2nd page to first is hard . Depending on the competition it can take couple months. It took me over a year to go from 2nd page to 3/4th spot for a high competition keyword.

op build more links per week. If nothing changes in 2 weeks send me your site info I will take a look at it.

Hey Codythebest - My offer from the other thread still stands.

I WILL PAY you to do SEO for my competition.

Its impossible to draw a conclusion on the fact that your site has not changed its SERPS in 4-5 days.

Sometimes effect comes after 10 or even 20 days depending on the datacenter sync.

In addition if your keyword is competitive it might take months before you actually start to climb up the ladder.

And at last it is really critical to know if your links are yielding you any link juice. If they are of good quality and if they are indexed at all.

I keep creating backlinks to my site, but I'm at a constant rank 23 for the past 4-5 days. Is this normal even though I keep adding b/ls and a few are already indexed btw.

How long does it take for backlinks to affect your serps? Is this a common thing for newer sites?

You have not proven much, I just googled the term lingerie and every single site is a retail ecommerce site, not a single blog which adds unique KW rich articles at least every week is on page 1. So these sites are up there due to the links, not the content.

I DO agree that have both quality content AND links is the best solution.
