From 3 down to about 9 or 10 for main kw and onto page two for the other. Have held good positions for the last 18 months or so. Domain is 6 years+ KW's are Mod to difficult (according to the adwords kw tool)

Is it fair to assume this is the panda/penguin effect or just general logarithm changes? May be a bit of a wake up call as I haven't down much link building for the last few Months and have just chucked up a couple of long articles.

Noticed all the other long term sites around me are 'altering position' as well.

Perversely I threw a site together on an old domain put a bit of unique content on it a few weeks ago and it is ranking alongside my main on some of the Kw. Never built any links to done any off page SEO for it other than to originally get it indexed.

It is safe to assume that competitive sites who run continuous SEO are passing you in rank. I passed every site for the keyword buy twitter followers in a few weeks and have been ranked top 3 on Google ever since. Do not ever stop backlinking.

I would recommend building more links with diversified anchor text and adding more unique content with KW density of 1%-2%.

You are not doing your seo work properly. You should maintain this regularly and also should make changes that is needed to do to make it more efficient in the sense of seo.

Suppose I have been a bit complacent over the last few Months and after spending so much time at the top it became easy to sit back and let the money roll in. Of course my only concern was my site suffering from the penguin/panda effect but if it was this I suppose it would be a lot further back down the serp.

Have kept most of the stuff I have done on it white hat with perhaps a little grey here and there and only link back from web2's and authority article sites like ezine. Back in the early days I did a bit of directory submission and some related topic blog commenting.

In the last 5 years my business has turned over a shade under £350,000 for a one man band and as my overheads are small I have a third of that salted away into bank accounts. Most of that was possible from what I picked up here. Not so much Black hat as I am in this for the long term but certainly the advice I have seen has been professional and very accurate.

Lets hope google don't fuck it up for everyone as from what I am seeing these log changes are not always returning better results.
