Hey guys,

An affilliate site of mine, which I built up over the past 2 years, that just deleoped nicely started to go downhill in January.

By now it completely tanked down and lost most rankings, keywords and 90% of it's traffic. I'm somewhat clueless, since this has never happened to any site of mine before and I can't really telly why it happened.

Yeah, it's in the health & supplement niche, but it didn't seem to be, because of the August update...

Would anyone be willing to take a look into this case?

Thanks in advance. Really.

Likely due to E-A-T.

One of my sites was in the finance niche. Come August, the site was barely touched by the update, but then all of sudden, late December, the site just crashed. Organic visitors have dropped by 90%, and that has stayed true since then. In the past week or so I have begun to work on improving authorship on the site. Before I did that, I went through absolutely everything and couldn't find a single reason for the site to have lost it's rank other than due to E-A-T.

How did you go about building it? Did you use hacklinks at all?

so many negative reports about google rankings so far. probably deep learning is taking over/replacing google's search algorithm. SEO is now completely dead. AI is here.

^^ Samir brings up a great discussion.

I can't help but think that Artificial intelligence will one day "decide" the placement of what we consume. This does make SEO a little difficult.

I wonder what that future will be like.

You hit the nail on the head. RankBrain has almost completely taken over by now. QualityRaterLabs are seeing fewer and fewer sites.

Rules have changed, but not so much that SEO is dead. I'm still killing it in local and enterprise SEO.

If you want to DM me your site I'll take a look.

100% chance that it was hit with an automatic update. You should take a closer look at when it started and then look at sites about what happened on that date. Perhaps an update was rolled out or something. It might be really hard to reverse the damage.

When did it start to tank? You're welcome to pm me your site and I'll do a quick analysis and give you my opinion.

There was a core update on the 12th of March, so if it tanked then, that's your reason.

One site that I co-own has been hit Apr. 2-3. From 50k daily visitors to 25K. Damn. Completely legit site

There was changes late 2018 .. approximately December, and ended with core update in March

I was hit like you, not losing 90% of traffic, but lost huge revenue for sure.

I did deep analysis to the update and shared my thoughts in a reply in a thread about this update

where is that post? I have seen the same with one of my sites would like to know more please.

There was a massive Google deindexing bug last week. Look it up, that may explain some of the loss in traffic.

All my clients sites that got hit recovered by now, though. Plus he said this happened in January.

To be honest, Google hates affiliate sites now. If you have affiliate links in every single blog post, you're going to have a hell of a time trying to rank. I'd suggest cutting it down to 1 affiliate post for every 3-4 informational posts.

I love how people talk about AI is taking over...an algorithm is AI.

I think it is a safe assumption that Big G has been using different elements of AI for years in their search......Natural Language Processing, Machine Learning etc

same thing happend to my site. lost 90% visitors since December. Completely lost my motivation. As I spent 2 years for this. :(
