Since my impression has tanked, should I start a new blog?

This heavily depends on why they tanked, you didn't really give us any information to work on.

I am really depressed at the moment. My 8 month work gone, like water on sand. I used some AI articles and some week ago had changed my article author to my pen name and not (by mysitename . com) also edited some old articles. My host was also offline for 5 hours few days ago. There could be many reasons. Also I used fb paid ads. Could be many.

So I really don't know. Blogging is super hard. Anyway thanks for asking.

Do you have any charts?

I know the feeling, im sure most people here have had it happen in some way at least once.

If the thing that killed it wasn't some sort of crazy backlink spam, or other spammy decision, then you can probably just continue with the same site. If your site was small then likely your single best article dropping could make it look like the site died when it didn't. Check what google has cached for your site because if it crawled it and cached it being down then that could explain why you fall off.
Im not trying to rub the depression in, trust me I know the feeling, but it is hard to say anything actually useful when we don't have much information, and id assume you want to hear useful things instead of people feeding your sorrow.

If you got something else going on then I would suggest yes, focus on that for some time.

Since you don't know what exactly caused the problem, why do you want to be quick to start another website?

Don't you think you could make the same mistake again and get the new site tanked once again?

if your site is not completely de-indexed it can be saved. Just not with this deplorable attitude :)

Google's undeclared business is to fuck sites up, and they'll continue tanking your, and everyone else's sites endlessly. Even if you build a new site and put 2 more years into it, or build 100 more sites over 10 years some of them will still tank or get penalized in some way, so what are you going to do? Abandon them all and start another 100 of them over 10 more years and repeat until you die?

Just check when the site tanked, check whether there's been any update on, or around that date, and see what that update has done and fix it and then your "8 months hard work" will be rewarded again.

Have a look at the official page of google updates and then check in GSC the day when your rankings dropped and see if you can match something:

Hmm i think its better on new one..
but wait.. you learned a valuable lesson from that.. every work we're doing or did can vanish within seconds. you know and felt that right..so keep that in mind and work..so you will hurt less ( or not hurt ) next time..

Keep working on both the old and new blogs. The old one can help you identify what may have caused the issue, which will prevent you from repeating the same mistakes in the new blog. The new one will provide you with a plan B in case the old one does not recover. By doing this, you can improve your chances of succeeding with both blogs. As the saying goes, 'fall seven times, get up eight.'
