Hi, so I have used SB in the past and really like it, obviously. So useful for so many reasons. But my circumstances have changed and I can no longer use the software on the computer/IP I used to (which was useful because it was an IP in an office with shared bandwidth so it would have been tough to track any activity to any one person or office). Anyway, I now need to purchase SB again, but I thought I might be able to kill two birds with one stone and just buy access to a VPN with SB already installed on it. I've heard this exists but don't know where or any details. I am concerned with my current internet speeds because I now work from home, so I do not want to attract attention to this IP address and I don't want to rely on my not-so-good internet speeds.

How can I purchase reliable access to a VPN that has SB already installed? How can I maximize my available bandwidth (thru the VPN) so SB can do its thing at top speeds? Can I run more than one instance of SB on the VPN? (for example one instance for building AA lists, another instance for grabbing comments or something)

Also, sorry if I said VPN when I should have said VPS, I never used to need them so I never learned much about it.

Nairb,

What you would be needing is a VPS (Virtual Private Service) to use Scrapebox on. While I have seen mention of VPS's being sold with Scrapebox pre-installed on them, the overall feedback I've heard is that they are extremely slow in comparison to using your own VPS + Scrapebox installation.

As for maximizing your available bandwidth, it'll require fine tuning the operating system and network adapter your VPS or Dedicated server is running on. I did a write up on this with a tutorial on how to get the best out of a machine for utilities such as Scrapebox, you can find this here: http://www.blackhatworld.com/blackh...58-howto-optimize-your-network-scrapebox.html

You can certainly run more than one instance of Scrapebox at a time. Keep in mind you will need the CPU, RAM, and Bandwidth to do so properly. For running a single stable copy of Scrapebox, it is recommended to have a minimum of 2 GB memory, and then an additional 250-500 MB of memory (depending on the tassk) for each additional copy you would like to run. Quad core processor or better for running 4+ copies at the same time is needed.

Hope this helps.

scrapeboxservers.com -- i use them. they have unmetered bw, and you should *always* scrape using proxies so you don't burn your only ip address.

Whell since you are at the first steps I will suggest you, for the beginning, with something smaller and cheaper so you can understand how things work and the upgrade. So for this I will suggest burst.net and then for higher performance altinsoft.net

I will also go to buy your own copy of SB and then buy a VPS.

Thank you

what is vps and what is it for? noob here. hehe

We're about to start offering VPS with pre-installed SB soon. This project is now in it's testing phase, and I could let you try it out at a very reasonable cost. PM me if you're interested.

Thanks for that info. OK, I have an idea of what I'm getting into now. The PC I use is very powerful by today's standards - i7 2600K cpu & 16gb ram - so it could easily handle multiple instances of many programs, but the issue is bandwidth and my ISP. I'm concerned that consuming that much bandwidth from my home will raise red flags on their end, I've heard that they sometimes request that you either buy another line, pay extra for the one you already have, or worse - ask you to register as a business which means extra taxes. I want to avoid this by using a VPS to do my heavy lifting.

You mentioned using your own VPS and installing a copy of scrapebox on it yourself for the best possible speeds. I wanted to do this originally but I heard that many high-quality VPS provider prohibit using their servers for those kind of purposes (i.e. black hat manipulation). Any specific suggestions in terms of companies/providers that would not mind this sort of use?

I have a lot of experience with SB. I said in my original post that I no longer use the computer I used to have access to in an office building (that had SB installed among other IM/SEO software and used an internet service that was wired throughout the whole building so there was a bit more anonymity there). I know all about proxies, and when to use which kind, how to manipulate connections to maximize return on those proxies. Thanks for the concern though! :)

You can checkout my link if you are looking for VPS, I can help you setup your Scrapebox and you will be good to go immediately.

The nice thing about a vps is you can log off. I wouldn't want to hog all my home computers resources by using seo tools on them.

Berman Hosting is a great VPS that I use
It's like having another computer (and the internet and processing speeds are IMMENSE)
You can "log off" (like poster above said) and SB will still be running
I have 2 or 3 instances of SB constantly on auto-pilot on the VPS and I just log on and off when I feel like it

I honestly don't know how you'll retrieve your license though
Maybe contact the creator of SB?

If you lost access to the vps that had SB license on it, I'm sure the hosting company probably reformatted your OS instance by now, you should be able to just re-install it. But you can also contact SB help, they are very responsive.

all you need to transfer the license is your original transaction id (you can find this in your paypal account) and the email used. Check out this site for more info: http://scrapeboxfaq.com/getting-started

look for question "How do I retrieve my transaction ID and email info for activation, if I have lost it. "
