I think he is using scrape box , to comment on pages which are already spammed
But this is intresting...getting backlinks is one thing..but getting them indexed in yahoo explorer is another that too within 14 hours....I see that there are no backlinks index in google for his hub , so i am not sure if i can get all his backlinks....but with yahoo explorer yeah , there are just 2 pages so max of about 2k links...
so i was trying to figure out his footprints...and gather blogs myself...

You can't use keywords with the "link:domain.com" query. It makes the boolean operator null and void (the "thing" that makes it only return sites that are linking to yours...google it).

You can only use the "link:" operator in one way, and that is like this:

link:domain.com or link:domain.com/whateverpage.htm <-that's it. Nothing more, nothing less.

So remove the keywords from after the operator and your should be good to go.

EDIT: Also, I'm not sure why you are collecting links that already link back to your site...do you want to link back to your site from the same sites you already have backlinks from? Or are you just trying to find all of your own backlinks?

1. I type in "Site:weightlossplan4u2.com" and harvest,get the urls and add "link:" in front of them,then get the list:

I just did a quick check in Google & Bing, and that site doesn't show in either of them as having any backlinks at all. That is why that is happening.

Try putting your list of URLs into the Add-On I talked about in the OP without the "link:" in front of them and you'll get some results (because I checked in Yahoo Site Explorer and it does show as having backlinks there).

thans for the supi dupi post :-) well one question from my side remains..how do you filter unwhiched (non blog) sites...look only for the .php endings ? That i havent figured out but im working on it real cool thing :-);)

Using the blog analyzer add-on. If the URL it is analyzing isn't a blog that ScrapeBox is capable of commenting on, after it is finished you click on "discard URLs that aren't blogs" <- or something like that, and you'll be left with only blog URLs that ScrapeBox can comment on.
 
ok i thought that ...wasnt shure cause the backlink checker didnt give an option so remove "wrong" links ok. I will do that then ...the first 98 successfully links i have :-) Thanx again..

You could also scrape a sites urls by using the Scrapebox Sitemap Scraper as an alternative to using the site: command. . .

It's a good method to find your competitors' backlinks, but I don't know if any one has thought about a much simpler method (not involving SB, but using Market Samurai - MS). It is this:

You'll get up to 1,000 backlink-details about any website using this method, including the PR-values, sorted, and the actual linking pages too:

So, in MS, begin a new project and for "Keyword:", use the competitor's top URL (like: YourCompetitorsSite.ext) (I think, it can be done for each individual page inside the competitor's site too, but I haven't tried it).

Keep the LanguageRegion: "All countries and territories".


Then select the "SEO Competition" option.
Type of Backlinks: External, Max. Backlinks: 1000.
Click "Generate Results" button.
You will see 1 link, normally the first, belonging to the competitor's URL. Notice the small down arrow in front of that URL? Click on that... You'll see 2 buttons on the left side of the text area below the URL... Click on "PR Analysis" button... within a few moments you'll get all the backlinking URLs (up to 1,000).


So, after clicking on "PR Analysis", you'll get all the web pages' details linking to the competitor's above URL. The PRs will be sorted -- beginning from highest to lowest, and each link will be 'clickable' and will open in your browser. There will be a table that shows grand total number of links, and total number of links for each PR that your competitor is getting for the said URL.

You can export the URL data (save as .csv), and then import the same into Excel. The file will be sorted on PageRank (descending -- highest to lowest) and Back-link URL.

Here, the best way to import the csv is to first open it in a text editor and do a search/replace... search comma and replace with a tab. It becomes a tab-delimited file. Save it and then import it in Excel to get a nicely sorted 2-column list of back links of your competitor's site.


You can also do Google Trends research, get WhoIs info, Alexa research, etc. from the same result page (inside MS).

I did a test on a high-profile site which showed it has 1,000 (max.) back links... PR-9 x 2, PR-8 x 10, PR-7 x 42, ... PR-6 x 210, PR-5 x 342, PR-4 x 80, ... and so on...

Each PR-group was also nicely sorted with the back-linking URLs that I could click and see the details of where the actual link was, including the anchor text etc. etc. etc.

The whole process took less than 10 minutes, and I just had to do a very easy work :--

  1. input the initial URL as keyword,
  2. click "Update" button,
  3. click SEO Competition icon,
  4. click "Generate Results" button,
  5. click the small arrow sign,
  6. click the "PR Analysis" button,
  7. click "Export URL Data" button...

That's it! Just seven absolutely simple steps (one input and 6 click) and I had the "natal-chart" of the competitor's back links (up to 1,000). :)


I am sure that competitor is completely unaware of how many back links he has, and also will faint if he learns how much details I have about his site now! :D

I just did another test on one of his inner pages... the result: I could get an exclusive set of related back-links specific to this inner page.

The program only gave me max. 1,000 results, as both the top URL and this inner page had actually more than 1,000 back-links pointing to each ... more than sufficient data to know where my competitor's site and pages stand, and how much work I need to do to beat him! ;)

Took just about 15 minutes max to get this data (both sets), 15 mins because the program had to extract 1,000 URL details for each.

This is where a program like MS scores over SB. Though SB is also a great SEO tool in its own right! A very casual "no-brainy" 15-minute adventure, and I was able to achieved top-level SEO research and results **yawn**. hehehe!

Not all the top ranking and authority sites on that list are blog types though. So you'll have to use different strategies to get those very big sites. The hard part comes when you'll have to get those back-links (blog-types and those workable through SB) to your own site. This is where SB takes the crown.

Im new to scrapebox. Most of the high ranking blogs are not Wordpress blogs and require you to register before you post. Scrapebox does nothing to automate the sign up process of these sites ? It only posts to auto approved sites?
 
The logic behind this is simple and brilliant; however, I am running into a major problem. I do a google search for my most sought after keywords that I wish to rank well for, and go after the top result... Then when I try to retrieve their backlinks as outlined in this thread; it returns zero results. How could they be the top ranking result with no indexed backlinks?

And yes, I'm talking about the first result, not an adword result.
 
good post and Im using the first way for long. But still, SB DOES NOT show some websites's backlinks EVEN if the site is ranking at #1 in google for lots of terms. I really have no idea as WHY a site is ranking #1 for YEARS for very competetive keywords whereas SB ONLY shows 2-3 pr2 and pr1 links. I'll shoot a PM to OP mentioning the terms and the site name so that he can easily spot what's going on
