Showing off backlinks - probably horrible - Right?

So, I've got this client site who has managed to get a bunch of high authority backlinks pointed towards it, now my client is asking if we could put a banner on the home page showing these and link them back to the originating site. Something like this.

I don't think its a great idea, but I was hoping that instead we could have the above banner linked to another page titled "us in the media" or "media mentions" etc. We could show snippets/screenshots from those articles or pages?

What do you guys think of that?

Many websites showcase those link banners.

You can nofollow the links as already advised above.

These are mostly PR kind links not some pbn links that you want to hide.
 
From SEO prespective, Doesn't matter :)

If you are really worries just nofollow it

Will try to only show those from industry leaders etc.
 
Looks perfectly fine to me!

Just nofollow the links and you will have no issues at all, if you're worried abour reciprocal link issue.
