I'm in the process of building my Tier 1 Web 2.0 to point to my main website and I've been wondering if I should just host it or use free blogging platforms. When I say host it, I mean use my own web hosting, with its own domain name, install wordpress, and use that as a Web 2.0 property.

Is this a good way to link to your main website? How would I make it so that my Tier 1 Web 2.0s won't have the same IP as my main website? Does it even matter if it does? Are you using this method, or just uses free blog platforms?

Any tips and recommendations are appreciated.

Well first yes you should have your own server, that way your in control of your site fully some places limit you on uploads, place ads, etc....

Then you can use free webhost like blogger and do rewrites of your articles pointing to your main site. If you want to take that a step futher then buy a server with C class IP's and you can make domains with different IP's.

And yes use free platforms go with wordpress you can make classy sites and even you can customize themes to the fullest where it can be unique to were if you put some custom work into it someone who has the same theme might not even be able to tell that you are using the same one.

You should do both actually... have links from a variety of places like that. When hosting your own be sure to use difference IPs for your sites so that it does not look like all the links are coming from the same IP address.

I am using my own hosting for my main site. This is more for Web 2.0 that would like to my main site.

When you say different IPs, do you mean I should purchase a separate webhosting for web 2.0 properties separate to my main site? I'm a little confused.
