Should I update old posts or keep publishing new ones?

Hey everyone,

I am new to SEO and trying to understand the best way to grow my site. I have already published a few articles, but they are not getting much traffic yet.

I am unsure if I should spend time improving those existing posts or focus on publishing new content consistently.

As a beginner, what helped you more in the early stage updating old posts or adding new ones?

Why not do both and deleting non performing content is also a good option too as far as seo is concern.
 
In the early stages, both matter, but updating old posts often gives faster results than just adding new ones. Improving content, adding examples, optimizing for intent, and linking related articles helps Google rank your existing pages. Once your older posts start performing, adding new content consistently builds topical authority and long-term growth.

Though early on, I’d lean more toward publishing new content. At that point you don’t really have enough pages for Google to understand your site properly, so expanding your content base usually has a bigger impact than tweaking what few existing posts you have.
Updating comes into play once you start getting some impressions. If a post is already showing up a bit but not performing, that’s usually where small improvements can move it up some. If it has zero traction, it’s usually not worth over-optimizing yet.
So yeah focus on consistency with new posts first, then circle back and refine the ones that are already gaining a bit of visibility. That balance tends to work best.
 
I dont think that updating old posts will do that much, try getting new ones on high traffic sites and make sure those get indexed

Hey! From what I’ve seen working with websites, spending a bit of time improving your existing posts usually gives faster results. Just updating the content, adding internal links, and even dropping a few quality backlinks can make them start ranking better.


Of course, publishing new content consistently is important too, but in the early stage, giving your old posts some love often helps the site look more complete and starts bringing in traffic sooner.
 
do both, but prioritize new posts first. updates only help when pages already have some data otherwise you’re polishing pages google hasn’t fully tested yet.

In the early stage, Publishing more content usually helps because it gives your site more chances to rank for different keywords. But updating older posts with better structure, keywords, and internal links can also improve their performance. I think a mix of both work best,

Definitely keep pushing out new content to fill up your site and show google what you're all about, but once you've built a nice little library, go back and give those older articles a little refresh; it's like a total glow-up for your content
 
Just focus on pumping out new content for now since you're still building your library. Once you've got some momentum and traffic coming in, then go back and spice up those old posts to keep them relevant
 
I think you should regularly publish new articles to show authority in Google. Also never compromise quality of the content.
