Hi,

I have osteoarthritis of the knee. My age is 30. I'm over weight. Should I run/jog everyday or should I do something else, like swimming?

I need some exercise routine now.

Thanks.

Guys, what are some more exercises besides swimming, walking, jogging and weight lifting. Need some ideas.

Thanks

Eating well is 70% of all physical change.
To lose weight, control what you eat and the quality. Forget junk food, soda and alcohol.
At the exercise level I recommend you to do HIT sessions and strength sessions

HIT: bicycle, stationary bike, running machine, skipping, running, fast exercise combinations.
Personally the exercise bike is very good for fat loss.

If you have any doubt do not hesitate to ask, unfortunately I have "lost" a lot of time in the world of fitness.

Yeah running/jogging isn't good for the knees especially with overweight. Try biking

have you been diagnosed with osteoarthritis or are you just googling symptoms you found on the internet? if you have not seen a doctor would suggest you go see one as osteoarthritis is not common for people around your age high chance it could be gout which have the same symptoms and found in over weight people. in regards to a routine just walking 20 k steps a day is fine no need to run or jog this means going to the park n walk around for an hour or two while listening to a podcast running and jogging is a very bad idea if you have any kind of arthritis in your knees and weight lifting does not burn enough calories fast enough to lose meaningful weight you build muscles more than losing fat

My guess is you should talk about your firntess with a real pro, not a black hat SEO forum.

Anyway I'd say go for swimming and biking, which will have less impact on your joints.

You can lose a lot of weight just by paying attention to your diet. The less you weigh, the less stress on your joints. But if you want to exercise, swimming is the safest for you probably, as you figured it out yourself.

The first thing you need to do is cut out meat from your diet. It will do NOTHING except exacerbate your condition through acidic build ups and calcification of the joints.

Happy to give you some pointers as I help people like yourself for the past 15 years. Just send me a DM

Look into glute and core training to stabilize your body. When you have strong glutes and you're walking/doing any activity, your body will be more stable and put force away from the knee. Most knee/hip injuries are because of weak glutes. Now again, I am not 100% sure what 'osteoarthritis' is, but I've helped many people away from knee injuries by applying these techniques. Might be worth looking into for you.

For weight loss, you don't need to do any exercising if you don't want to. You also don't have to restrict yourself from any type of food if you don't want to (stuff like keto is pointless). The only thing that matters is being in a caloric deficit to lose weight. Stuff like 'stop eating meat' is bullshit.

Or water aerobics type exercises where you get resistance on the water while exercising.

Start off walking before jogging, less impact on your knees. Do half a mile for first 2-3 days then gradually increase the distances.

So you claim 'stuff like stop eating meat is bullshit' here even though you've admitted you have no idea what osteoarthritis even is. Don't get triggered and your emotional and block-headed political standing on meat--eating get in the way of objectivity here. Mindless, brash, futile comments like this have no place here when we're talking about helping someone with a very distressing illness.

Speaking objectively, it's essentially a degenerative disease effecting joints anywhere in the body. Left untreated it can spread to other parts of the body, which tells you what?.... it tells you that it's due to imbalance in (actually quite simple) biochemical processes. As a result, the body is unable to cope with inflammation caused, resulting in the condition. This is nothing like tying to nurse someone with a torn ligament. This is a biochemical problem, not a physiological one.

Your broscience cliches are actually very dangerous. Telling people you can lose weight with a simple caloric deficit is easy and all well and good, but what will happen when someone all ready burdened with chronic ph imbalance are potentially made worse.... sure you will lose weight on a simple caloric deificit, but then it becomes a little more complicated than that....
in this case your body will begin to mobilise fat to use for energy which means a dire surge in fatty acids being carried to all tissue around the body including you guessed it, to joints already afflicted with severe inflammation, making them worse. And what happens then.... when you're adding insult to injury by eating 'foods', meat, eggs, sugar, starch, salt which invariably produce acidity. It sounds like a recipe for disaster doesn't it? That's because it is. You might lost some weight but you'll be damaging your joint further too if your kind of advice is followed, to a person already suffering from a severe ph imbalance.

Running is the worst on your knees, even more so with bad form. I'd guess swimming might be your best bet. However, I think you should speak to a doctor, as they usually have rehabilitation routines and whatnot which would yield better results. As others have mentioned, if you want to lose weight, you need to keep your diet in check and eat at a small deficit. Plenty of guides on how to track calories online, so dive in.

You'd get more insights from related discussions in Quora. I've noticed a lot of authorized health specialists share their contrasting view points.

I suggest you read 'The Longevity Paradox' to tweak your diet. Wish you better health!
