Should I organize a real blackhat marketer convention?

Would you attend a real blackhat marketing conference?

Vegas because I live their! I would be interested but dont have that kind of money to enter :(

you ever heard of the se*oktoberfest that was organized in munich/germany last year by a german and us seo? 20 members only, fee: 5000 euros (7000 dollars)... so i guess 400 dollars is quite cheap... (they plan on a new event in rio de janeiro next year - same price).

$400 ain't bad at all!!!...

i've attended a conference in St.Louis Missouri that ran my dad $1200 for both of us for 3 days!!!..

(so much info to cram in 3 days:P)

I think we should create a new current of online marketing based on innovative, sneaky ideas of making money that do not involve defrauding companies and that do not involve the risk of getting banned by such companies . We could choose a different colour, redhat marketing.

No doubt Nick, that's a great focus to have. Where the quality is good so you can sustain campaigns but the methods are more crafty in how to get consumers interested and purchasing or completing tasks.

I can see this being broken down into a few major components:

1. Aesthetics- Using creatives and styles that really pull people in, with the mediums available in this day you can make some pretty eye catching banners, flash, etc. Push the envelope and see what you can get approved on certain advertising platforms.
2. Control of your market- Use demographics and targeting based on the type of people that would buy a certain product/service( targeting orprah.com for acai offers, geo specific offers off of geo-targeting).
3. Understanding cpa- Understanding principles of a network, everything that goes on, why it exists, figuring out whether you actually need to work with them or not and which position will be best for you; advertiser or publisher.

I think this will involve working with advertisers more closely, or maybe you are the advertiser. I can see getting away with more that way, vs dealing with an affiliate manager or intermediary who are concerned about compliance. The business itself is dirty, most of the high epc products/services involve some sort of deception to begin with and prey on consumer's weaknesses. I don't have a problem with that because they are going to do it anyway and I think I should benefit from their whimsical stupidity. This kinda takes an understanding(loathing:)) of our culture, consumerism, in order to manipulate it.

So yeah I second innovative ways in order to trick people into thinking they are getting something else, getting something more, "real" believable stories, controlling purchasing decisions based off marketing triggers, being an imposter, etc.

To have a thinktank about this kind of marketing would be beneficial to me and others I think. So I would go to a marketing conference or a meetup about that.

I think this would be awesome. I would be willing to attend anything on the east coast, assuming the price is not outrageous. Having two conferences per year, one on the east coast and one on the west coast would be great.

I was thinking of sending my Bro to the summit, $1749.00 + the LV stuff. Might be worth it, but I hate to see him have any fun. If anyone finds any really good stuff, please pass it on to us cheap skates.

Sounds great, price is good, however there is the problem of topics, e.g. cookie stuffing would be out, although there are some good greyhat ones.

i guess some are either busy working Full time job or too far to travel...too bad i am from asia country...if not i might join with you guys.

LA is great but it's very spread out so may not be as cool as Vegas. You def need a car here where Vegas you don't really. I live in Hollywood so if it's going to be in LA I'm down to help organize things.

As Nick Flame said, it would be cool if it would be announced several months before.. And if I would get to know him and HaRRo :D

I voted no. While I would love to attend a convention, meet some like minded people, maybe indulge in some brainstorming(actually a lot of it). But I dont know if I would like to attend a full blown convention. The problem is not just limited to account managers. How do you filter out the noise (no offense intended). We aren't mainstream, ya sure like a number of people have mentioned we aren't all about fraud, cpa bogus leads, click exchangers, cookie stuffing etc. but are we really planning to discuss even he rest.

Are we ready for the mainstream? I would say no, maybe we will and should never be.

Though if there was a way to filter the noise and keeping it small ( btw I am noise too.. for now at least) I would definitely be interested.

Cheers!!

Yes, I would definitely attend, if only for the chance to meet the top dogs in the game. And if $400 is too much for you, you probably shouldn't be there anyway...

Actually is $400 enough!! Seriously.. more would definitely make it even more worth the experience.

That last sentence is pretty contradictory 'eh?

I would enjoy a Vegas location since they have tons of rooms and a lot of entertainment afterwards.

And the cost is reasonable, $200-400 would work for most people.

Chicago would be the best option for me. If it's Vegas, LA or NY, it'd depend on when it is. Nonetheless I'd seriously consider attending.

LMFAO @ johnypro

I kinda agree with graphicnut on this as well.

emgxxg might be right about becoming mainstream I think this would bring us in the "light" sort of speak but we should really want to stay away from that.

Great points

I've got a online networking/conferencing project launching soon which I think would be perfect for this, I'll give more details soon (im actually thinking of taking some beta testers from here if one of the mods/admins will tell me how and where i should do this).

Rgds,
