If the site is doing so bad, why not just post a link to it instead of describing it? Then knowledgeable people here can critique it properly.
My guess is that the articles are pretty bad - that they're "mirage" content that is just a rehash of the first five Google results. If you were paying less than, say, $15 per 500 words(and it looks like you were, you mentioned 1000-word articles), you were most likely getting exactly such shitty content. And in the personal development niche, that's fatal (like
@Asif WILSON Khan said). You can produce and present poor content for specific products, like toasters or whatever, and people will still click on the affiliate links if the articles aren't a total train-wreck. But if people come to a website that has a bunch of poorly-written "motivation, success, productivity, entrepreneurship , lifestyle, quotes" articles with Adsense ads... They're going to bounce fast.
Basically you made a poor choice and didn't think it through. You chose a niche and an approach and stuck with it, but perseverance won't get you anywhere if you're walking into a swamp.
You don't have to abandon the site, but you should definitely rethink your approach and rebrand it. Buy or write quality articles and don't focus on quantity. Google is way too smart nowadays for such an approach to work for a relatively new site without deep knowledge of blackhat techniques. Good luck.
