Should I get back into SEO?

Hi, I've been out of the SEO game for a few years now.

I want to hop back in as I really enjoyed it back in the day. I see posts claiming that SEO is dead, this and that.

But I would like a response to as if it is still worth getting into and freelancing for it.

I don't care about the money, I would just like to know with these new Google updates, SEO is still worth it for local-based companies.

Until google is there, SEO wont die. And yeah this is a best time to start fresh with SEO cause google just stooped its dance

If you enjoyed doing SEO before and miss it, then why not? SEO's always changing, so there's always new stuff to learn.
Maybe start with some recent articles or courses to catch up. Also, experiment with your site or blog to get back in the groove.
It's all about testing and learning, so go for it if you're interested!

If you are trying to get back you will be highly disappointed.
Find another field/niche, no need to diversify your earnings if you hate "diversifying" and think it's fake.
Pivot may me the right term.
Regardless of the term that you wanna use. Yeah, don't, SEO now will take huge effort and you may loose time and money.
 
The core is the same.

Nuances around it got more complex but that's about it.

Focus on semantics and backlinks from reliable sources. (high traffic guest posts sites, PBN you can control etc.)

Yes it is pretty much dead especially in blogging and affiliate websites...

I've been hearing SEO is dead for years. As long as people are using search engines, SEO will not be dead. You just have to adapt to this new AI world.

About posts claiming SEO is dead – I've seen those too, and honestly SEO isn't dead; it's just evolved. With each Google update, it's like a new level in a video game – you adapt, you learn, and you keep on playing. Google Updates can be a pain sometimes. But they're also an opportunity. They push us to be better, to focus on quality over gimmicks, and to really understand what users are looking for.

it's absolutely still worth it, especially for local-based companies. when someone in your area needs a service or product, where's the first place they go? they just Google it
 
SEO is only viable if you are doing it for a real company, but this is only for now it will likely go away in the near future. There isn't much time left for SEO tbh, I think SERPs as we know it, will change in the next couple of years as AI gets better. If you're thinking of running an affiliate blog, that is a thing of the past unless you own a website that is an absolute authority in its niche.

It is not completely dead but almost. It has been dying for years now and we are at the final stages. You want to adapt? Sure... go ahead... try to out rank reddit, quora, forbes, amazon, youtube, PAA, Google Q/A, Google Ads etc... good luck!
