I was just reading a thread about how links from de indexed PBN's can be bad for money sites and I have quite a few but it hasn't affected my rankings (so far).

I can't get these links removed, so should I just disavow them? Are de indexed links even registered by google?

No, don't do anything if you are not hit, disavowing links now is the worst thing you can do. That is like screaming that you used PBN links.

that's what I was thinking I don't want to look suspicious, but at the same time there's over 40+ domains that are penalized so I don't want that to negatively impact me either..

What do you mean it doesn't work? As in it isn't effective or that it doesn't do what it's supposed to

in january one of my website got penalized by google algorithm( not manual action on webmaster ) and disappeared from google searches, and the only solution was to disavow bad links. In 1 month my website got back in google. So, for me, disavow worked very well

I strongly disagree. Do you have any proof for those claims? Granted, it's sometimes not the best option, but the tool is there for a reason and has helped people recover from circumstances outside of their control.

the tool is there for you to use to stop spam links from raiding your site.
It is also a tool that is used as last resort.
and lastly, it's also a tool that is used to maintain your site.
if you are gonna disvow 100 pbn de-indexed links on the spot, ofcourse its gonna be a massive red ass flag, its saying penaltize me too
but maintain the site, and keeping your BL profile clean, while disavowing links here and there, where it's looks terrible for ur profile, isn't bad.
That can include, spammy links, shitty built pbn links or even de-indexed pbn links.
Just because you disavowed them doesn't necessary mean you were the one who put it there.

Fair point, but can't one make the argument that just because I disavowed all 40 at once, it won't necessarily mean I put them there? I mean I could have just wanted to remove as many bad ones as I wanted all at once right?

This is probably what I'll have to do. If it ain't broke don't fix it

Ofcourse, you can't think narrowly that "oh shit, these pbn are de-indexed, that means they out to get me" chances are, it was those pbns that fucked up.
and hey, think of the people who got blasted 1 million NSEO from those fivveer gigs
chances are, some of those links are from recently/soon to be penalized sites too

IM is all about chance and luck, just remember
I been manual actioned before, i recorded EVERYTHING i did, everytime i build a link, buy a link, disvow a link, edit a backlink, i record it down, im know what im doing
so when i got penalized, i went back and removed as much junk as possible.
Google knows, dicks do NSEO, people do put each other down, cuz they too stupid to outrank them instead.
But instead of caring, they just act like they give zero shits.

    But anyways, without blabbing on
What i would do in your position right now is, carefully go through your backlinks every few days, continue to disvow the spammy ones, like forum profiles.

There is nothing agaisnt the rules of maintaing your site.
Disvow tool is there to "get rid of anything, you don't want there, that you can't manually reach out to remove" afterall.

Go ahead and disavow deindexed links, you won't have any negative impact on ranking as long as these links are already out of Google's index. Cleaning up link profile is something most SEOs do very often to curb Neg SEO.

It is only okay to disavow it if you are really NegSEOed or hit. I have a few sites with tons of links from deindexed PBNs with no issues after a few updates, and yes after this update too.

It is your call OP, but my advice is from my real experience.
