Should I buy this domain?

Wow, that's a lot of money for a domain! I would tell her to sit down and start brainstorming up a list of names. She might even find something better that she likes. I always make a list of 20 or so names before I make a decision. I agree with everyone else about using her name as the domain. A lot of photographers do this. It would really suck to be 3000 in the hole just for the domain.

Yeah man if she's only doing this as a hobby, there's no way I would pay any more than $10 for a domain. Especially since you said she thought of it "off the top of her head" makes me think she isn't completely set on that name, but rather just thought it was cool. Like others have said, just use hername.com or something similar.

or take the old pre release domain related to your niche, you will amaze there are alot of old domains available, some even can have history and good backlinks.

try snapnames.com, namejet.com

you can get awesome domain between $100 to $200 or even at $69.

nobody even knows how much the guy wants for the domain yet? its entirely possible the owner has forgotten about it. its annoying how half of the posts here are following on from someone just saying it might be 1k or 3k.
