Should I boost my reels?

Boost content that performs well enough organically, and you want to 10x the results. Boosting content which performs bad just to get numbers up makes no sense.

I firmly believe that Instagram does not punish you for using the ads, and that's just a myth.

Your concern is valid, but based on real experiences from many creators and marketers: boosting reels does not harm your account long-term if done correctly. In fact, it can help grow reach and engagement, especially when targeting the right audience. However, if you rely only on paid reach without organic content strategy, your organic performance might seem lower by comparison—not because Instagram is punishing you, but because you're not nurturing organic growth.

If you have a business item to promote, then you can boost posts. However, if you plan on getting more natural traffic, then just post content and it will go viral soon.

Hey guys,

Quick question only for people that have already tried this. Should I boost reels on my Instagram account? I dont mind for the cost of the ad. The thing that actually worries me is that I have seen people in the past saying that boosting your accounts with ads actually pushes them down in the algorithm because Instagram does not give you views so you can go ahead and spend even more money on ads. I was wondering if anybody that has already TRIED this has experienced this kind of behavior cause else, boosting reels is a very good option for me if it does not harm the account long term.
If it's a business page, I think it's worth it because it can bring you sales, otherwise I think you should invest in content and build an organic channel. If you want to experiment, just create a campaign with a small budget, and still maintain posting content regularly. You can run ads for each of your campaigns, that's fine.

Unless you are promoting some product/service, I would advice against it. It's very possible to get virals reels just by posting constantly, no need to pay or boost

IG won't punish you for running ads necessarily, but if you do it wrong you'd be scoring an own goal there. Usually what hits you when running ads is poor targeting or low-engagement content getting pushed with money. Boosting weak content could reflect that a lot more viewers don't give it watchtime and engagement which may well lead into reduced visibility because algo.
Alternatively, boost high-performing or really engaging Reels and you stand to amplify that even further and helps you get picked up by the algo organically. Consider it a force multiplier. Just have to set it right and multiply the correct forces to get the most out of it.
