SHould be simple question for an old timer

Newbie here.

Learning quick and not too pants with a computer so I will try and keep up with anyone who feels they can give me a strait answer

I need to know this.

Say I've got a domain which has previously had lots of traffic and still ranks of. If I cloak this with masking will I get the traffic from the domain.

Is the best thing to do to set up sub domains in this scenario?

Also if I'm in say godaddy trying to do the forward thing. Some of my domains seem to mask a link fine when tested but then some just unravel your link which is not much good?

Hope someone can just give me a quick step by step.

What I mean is this. I have a previously used url/domain name via auction. It is ranked and has obviously had traffic previously.

I want to use this traffic for my affiliate link and also cloak my affiliate link using a subdomain. My domains are with godaddy and my hosting with hostgator.

I have pretty serious learning disabilities you see and its taking me 4 weeks so far to get no where with this one thing. Once I have managed to work this out. I will be able to then try and make some money for my young family.

Really really hope you guys can help me with this. I assure you all I am here for the long hall and ean to try and help and be useful from here on in.

I gotta learn myself first though and there is so much conflicting information out there I though I would just come and ssk the pros right off.
