I would always advise using the analytics of someone with no dog in the fight. In this case it is GOOGLE because Shopify analytics do not often match up with GOOGLE. Just my rule of thumb.
I would advise google analytics because it has much more insights into whats happening. Also i think there is a shopify plugin that tells you where your customers click on the website which is pretty usefull for making a high converting layout
depends on the type of products you want to sell and the money that you have
with stand-alone website you have better control over every thing and maintenance is cheaper
Shopify is good for beginners but costly to maintain. And then Shopify sometimes bans some stores. Like in Pandemic it banned all stores for selling masks
