You should be able to do that.
Shopify has a live chat option available 24/7 so I suggest you use it.
Do I need to issue an invoice for the sales? The products are second-hand, vintage rugs. Shipping will be directly handled by my cousin in Turkey for the customer.

You don't need to issue any invoices. You are not issuing invoices on Etsy either.
When I try to make a custom item sale, for example, during a 'draft order,' tax is not being added. The issue is as shown in the image below, even when I select New York, tax is not being calculated. What could be the reason for this?

I think I solved it
When we moved the taxes section to Manual Tax, the problem was solved.
