Hi everyone.

I'm fairly new to this and I am doing in my spare time. (I have been doing bans sites, but I just created my first decent blog)

I just need input.

I set up a dating blog on wordpress on hostgator.

I chose a pretty theme and got all the right plug-ins (all in one seo pack, gregarious, xml site map, feedburner feedsmith, deluxe adsense, etc)

Then i typed in 'dating blog' and got ideas for articles and wrote 3 or 4 decent sized posts which i added one every other day to my blog. In between, I added a phpbay ebay dating related item post.

Also, when I googled 'dating blog'.. I looked at all the results.. and chose a random blog and typed it into google and see how they promoted thier blog. I saw what directories they submitted to.. looked at thier squidoo pages and forums, etc. It's a f*ckin great way to style your own campaign.. lol

So, it's been jus under 2 weeks and for the last 7 days, my adsense is 700 impressions, 29 clicks, 4.13 ctr and earning of $7.50ish. Is that good (for a newb)? or do I need to promote better? Every single click is from the link unit just below the wordpress menu (Home, about etc). I might take out the large chunky square google ads if they show no clicks in the next week or two. I guess people get turned off by too many of those on any kind of site...

So, I've learned that the link unit is my bread and butter and that a good niche, good web-site name and pretty theme can give me coffee money for the week lol.

Trouble is, I want to make more of these blogs, but niches are gonna be a bitch to find.. lol But I'm happy with $7 a week per blog..Hopefully it will grow. I will keep the content relevant. Gotta build some more... I know i want half a dozen really good quality blogs.. and then I might so some scraped rss crappy ones. i dunno!

I just wanted to share my thoughts in case it helps any other newbies who haven't thought of the stuff that's contained in this post.

nice mate, what ways are you going about to gain traffic? i read you do posts to your blog, but are you posting to article directories as well?

I have not been posting to article directories. I am basically rewriting other random posts that I see online. I'm a fast reader and typer. I can paraphrase entire paragraphs in my mind and then change positions of content around. I remove bullet points and add them elsewhere.. blah blah blah... Should I be submitting the articles to a directory... maybe i should.. lol

And as for traffic, I use watermarked videos on youtube and some other sites (uploaded them via tubemogul.com) , promote these via relevant forums. I could have probably watermarked p0rn vids but didnt get into that lol. I Used Directory Submitter to a sumit the site to a few dozen sites. I used bookmarking demon on the site. I also set up a couple of accounts on yahoo answers and answered a lot of questions where I promoted my site

I am getting a lot of google traffic (for me anyway..lol), not sure why! I think because of the keywords in my domain name and scattered throughout the homepage etc. Definitely make a page on cheating spouses or affairs.. lol that ranks high in googley moogley!

So, nothing groundbreaking. It's more of a learning experience. I made $1.25 yesterday from 3 clicks from 19 hits . Basically I need to get the word out more.

For many people here, my progress is peanuts.. but for me it's a great start. I aim to have quality as well as quantity.. (although I understand that there are easier and more automated ways.. I'm quite happy with doing this).

I was wasting my evenings with doing too many things at once. So, now I'm concentrated on making a few good blogs until i hit $100 a month. Hopefully from there I can move on to $100 a week... Enough to buy me the small luxuries that I lack right now.

I got another blog up in another niche yesterday with 3 posts. So if I can knock out 2 or 3 quality blogs per week, i think I'm good. I have to keep fresh content with the older blogs too.

AM I NUTS ? or should I try this for a year or so and see what happens ?

I dont think that the money you are making is peanuts. After all some people are not making any money at all.

Well I think that you should continue working on it. I don't think that you are nuts after all you have to be persistent

Not a bad start, your earnings per click is pretty good (looks to be 0.20 - 0.40, I know I get many clicks that are less than 0.10), and while your CTR may be on the low side, it probably won't raise any red flags with g00gle. Just keep building more and more content for your blogs and you will have more success

Think you are on the right track - you already learn a lot, earned some money and are motivated to go on. Great start. Once you manage to automate things you can expand.

Thats pretty fine for the dating niche also you can use social networking sites(myspace,orkut etc) to promote ur blog.
