    Hey guys,

So im setting up magento for the first time. I have a theme. Now, what hosting should i get, from which site?

Where do i downlload the main files for magento, how do i install and activate a theme (i think i got the theme installation down from a tutorial online)?

Im having trouble finding tutorials online xcept for theme installation, so some simple help would be great. I'm pretty savvy, i just want to get this done as quick as possible.

    Thanks a ton!

I had trouble installing it with godaddy. So I had to find another host provider.

I have magento with simple helix hosting. They have a one click button for magento. So you can install it with just one click.

    hope that helps

what should be the initial price for a site?

like 10 bucks for domain, 20 bucks for basic hosting, 25 bucks "professional" magento setup fee? 10 bucks private registration, so like 65ish? or did other ppl get something different

Getting a domain with a coupon should be around $7.(around 14-15 with private) Hosting $19.95. For a professional magento setup, it depends on where you bought the template. Some sites offer free installation of the magento template. Other sites may charge you $50+ to install the template.

Honestly I dont remember. With most magento template sites, they use installation to make extra money.

I have a site setup with HostGator and they offer free installation of Magento.

After you install it, you will be provided a pass by e-mail to access the admin console and apply the necessary updates/configuration changes.

If you need any further assistance, just PM me.

My company specilizes in Magento eCommerce sites, I would recomend Nexcess for hosting. A bit more expensive but optimized for Magento and the ony one we found that guarentees % PCI DASS compliance for CC with the community editon.

PM me if you have more questions, happy to help

Look for any host that has "Softaculous" - http://www.softaculous.com

Softaculous is an automated script installer, and it installs Magento automatically. That will save you plenty of time and money (especially if you have to reinstall for any reason).

Look for hosting specials on web host forums, you can usually get the best deals (webhostingtalk has tons for example)

    As for pricing:
are you talking about script installation?
    or template instalation?
or actual site setup (configurations, product setup, etc)?

if your beginner with magento its best to download zend server for magento & localhost it whilst developing your first site. A fresh Magento install needs alot of work before its good to go as a live shop & once you have a live site you don't want to be doing development or upgrades on a live shop so its best to start with a localhost backup & test shit before going live with modifications.
