Happy new year everybody.

It may be a coincidence, however I've noticed a relative increase in my SERP while on holidays. It happened this holiday period and last summer. It may be a coincidence but during that times i stopped everything I usually do regarding my website.
I almost everyday log in my G webmaster tools account and G analytics to see the traffic.
I also check my SERP for several keywords and click on my link on the results.
I also add 2-3 posts every week, post them on facebook, twitter and G+ etc. I am currently on 3rd page on G (used to be on 4th before holidays and 6th before summer) on a medium-competition keyword.
I don't do something special regarding SEO since I'm new to this. I just do simple white-hat stuff, social media etc.
The question is would that improvement on SERP be related to stopping stuff i usually do? or has something to do with login to webmaster tools etc? Or i shouldn't click on my link on the SER?
Has anyone else noticed something similar?

JDeme,

It would seem that your efforts are paying off. The increase could be due to your addition of content on a regular basis, especially if you were using your target keyword in posts. If you are receiving good social interaction then this could also increase your relevance in SERP's. For instance if a lot of people are commenting, sharing or otherwise interacting with content you post on your social media sites, this is a good thing.

Here are some other simple tips for increasing your rank if you haven't tried them already,

Thanks Shawn,

I must say that there has been also increase when converted the site to wordpress, but that was something expected. In general I think I'm on a good track, it's just these improvements in SERP happened when I wasn't doing anything.

SERP increases are based off of Backlinks for the most part, and content helps to push it along. Nothing else is really a factor :)
