Seriously: you ready for Coronavirus?

Went to the grocery store today and they were out of avocado ice cream.

Total panic mode.

I think I have less of an idea wft avocado icecream is than corona...

Although I have to say, I am slightly more concerned about it all now than I was when I first commented on this thread, it seems to be having a huge impact on the world. Perhaps @bartosimpsonio was right.

However, I do have one thought: If this happened 10 years ago, before the huge inflation of social media, would we have been quite so panicked as a global population? Or would we just think "I hope it doesn't affect people I know, or me"?
Perhaps some sort of fear of it is a good thing, keeps us from doing stupid things...

Honestly, without social medias nobody would've been panicked like that until PM or President went live on every TV.
But what if the infection gets worse in a week like in Italy?
In that case it's much better than they panic-stocked now that they're healthy, than happening later on when the infected number and risk of a mass spread would be even higher.

We used telephones back in the day. The word would have spread, although not as wide and fast as now, but information would still have got to the public. At least in the western world. People would probably been less aware in Italy though.

Lol what are you implying? go google who invented the telephone...

you should see the kind of things that are circulating right now on private (friends and family) whatsapp groups. plenty of BS and fake news and scams about how to fight the virus, fake doctor voice messages, pictures from other countries pushed as local etc

First death caused by COVID19 in my country (7 confirmed infections and x unconfirmed), 66 year old woman with preexisting conditions taken to hospital with severe double sided pneumonia, died in 24 hours after hospitalization.

Which country are you in?

And the Greeks are said to have "invented" democracy, look at the "discussions" in their government. :D

Who cares who invented the telephone lol

I was lurking forever before I joined because all the recent posts are available to outside members.

Finally joined today because I want to connect with all the hard working people on here.

:D:D:D
Italian newspaper: first page, 60yo journalist posts cringe questions from a reader: "what do you think we'll going to miss during this lockdown?"
And the 60yo journo goes full cringe: "I really miss the hugs of my friends"... o_O

My brain: FFS snowflakes it's like just the second day of this fake lockdown, really are you acting like that????
bunch of pussies right there, what about WW3? :D
If these are the supposed "adults", man I will start cheering for coronavirus!
I've read this to my granddad (WW2 veteran, ~100yo), he told me if he had the force to walk he would go there and spit these pussies in the face, as they're afraid of their own shadow, they wouldn't last an hour in war :D

This is for all those people thinking that coronavirus is a fake-news/ manipulation etc, or it's just an ordinary flu which will go away anytime soon, and there is no reason to panic and take action:

"When you’re done reading the article, this is what you’ll take away:

The coronavirus is coming to you.
It’s coming at an exponential speed: gradually, and then suddenly.
It’s a matter of days. Maybe a week or two.
When it does, your healthcare system will be overwhelmed.
Your fellow citizens will be treated in the hallways.
Exhausted healthcare workers will break down. Some will die.
They will have to decide which patient gets the oxygen and which one dies.
The only way to prevent this is social distancing today. Not tomorrow. Today.
That means keeping as many people home as possible, starting now."

Most people like being sociable and hugging?

A study by National Institutes of Health, Princeton University and University of California, shows that

CoVid-19 aka coronavirus can survive:
3 hours in the air,
4 hours on copper surfaces,
24 hours on paper and cardboard,
two or three days on stainless steel and plastic

Looks like it's out of control.

Spreading like fire in Italy and USA

Why did USA allow a plane with 60+ people in it, some known contaminated(??) to simply go normally and "self quarantine"?? They should've been forced into special quarantine quarters immediately.

The virus can hide for 30 to 40 days. Yes, you read that right. The longest period now is 27 days confirmed but they're obviously withholding information from us.

The way this thing spreads is insane.

Almost as if it was a bioweapon.

In fact a perfect bioweapon has 3 conditions:

1 - It does not show symptoms for a long time so it can infect as many people as possible

2 - It does not kill quickly so it can infect as many people as possible

3 - It contaminates via air, touch and indirectly since the virus lives outside the body for weeks.

This shit really does look like the perfect bioweapon.

Are you ready for what's next?

Stock up on disinfectants, water, batteries and meds. You will NOT be able to buy things very soon.

In Italy supermarkets are getting emptied.

Get ready. Humankind is entering a new phase.

Now that the stock market has crashed utterly due to coronavirus news you can bet news is going to change soon about how "contained" the virus has become. Beginning in around a month, after some Dow30 accumulation.

Dismal science.

My local supermarkets have no toilet paper, hand soap or pasta.

Not sure if the people panic buying are idiots or smart ones at this point. I'm starting to get the fear and wanting to stockpile myself.
