Serious Plan To Make Decent Money With Amazon Associate Program!!!

hey BHW guys,
I'm currently earn well with AMZ associate program (over $5000/month passive income) and wanna share my ACTIONABLE plan to help you reach that.
1. Keyword Research:
- Choose the MARKET (not product) with average price >= $50 and <= $200 (if the product price is too low, the commission is not worth your effort, but if it's too high, the conversion rate will be low)
- I use Long Tail Pro to do keyword research (but you can use Market Samurai as well)
- For beginners, I will recommend you to go with "buying keyword" whose KC <=25 (since it will not cost you much time and money to rank), then do research TOP 10 Google for this main keyword, if you can see:
++ forums, yahoo answer, ask,...
++ "weak" affiliate sites (less than 3)
++ less than 5 e-commerce sites (amazon, ebay, walmart, etc)
It's a KEYWORD that you can rank in TOP 10 of Google
PS: "buying keyword" is sth like: best washing machine, top camera, camera reviews, best mobile phone for the money
2. ACTION:
a. 1st Month:
-List all of your buying keywords (using Long tail pro OR Google Adword keyword planner); divide them into 2 OR 3 categories (we will call each category a silo)
-Fill your site with high quality content (HOmepage: 2000 word article, review articles: 700 word, information/generic articles: 500 word) targeting these "buying keywords" and other "relevant long tail keywords"
-Do excellent internal links based on SILO (you should search more info on Google to figure out how to build link in SILO) =>> purpose: to maximize the effect of backlink, based on SILO building, you can control the link juice, thus, rank for ALL keywords in the SILO
b. 2nd Month:
- Do some social signal (facebook share, like, twitter retweet, reddit, Google +, ..), you can easily buy them on Fiverr or SeoClerk
- Do some high quality blog commenting (just from relevant niches site, no matters the links are DO-follow or NO-follow
- Build 10-20 web 2.0 links (the content MUST be unique, but don't need to be in high quality), don't use EXACT ANCHOR TEXT when linking back to your money site, just use naked URL or BRAND ANCHOR TEXT (your website name, your name for instance)
c. 3rd Month:
- Start link building using PBN (if your keyword is EASY, you just need about 8-10 PBN to rank)
- Link building velocity should be 2-3 PBN links/week ==> it's for your safety
- PBN requirement:
TF,CF>15
DA,PA>20
NO SPAM backlink profile
UNIQUE content (you can put 1 backlink to money site for every 5 articles = 4 articles with NO BACKLINK + 1 article with 1 link to moneysite)
PS: you can BUY, HIRE or BUILD your own PBN, as long as you can obtain 8-10 PBN fulfilling the requirement above

"Buying keyword" means keyword that people will type when being in "buying mood". For ex: when you type: "washing machine 2015 reviews", you probably want to buy a washing machine (but need to check more info before deciding to purchase). On the other hand, when you type: "washing machine", a very generic keyword, perhaps you're just looking for some general information about washing machine only (so it's NOT a buying keyword).
Because we're making money with amazon (you are just paid commission once people buy products via your aff link), I will recommend you to go with "buying keywords" (since the conversion rate of "buying keyword" is always higher than other generic keywords.). However, in case you're working with Google Adsense, a general keyword can still bring you money.

How many unique visitor you need to get $5k/month?
Is it from one niche site or multiple site? What's your buying KW average monthly searches?

I have about 10 niche sites that bring me $5k /month in total (but one of my friend have just 1 site generating $7k/month - so it's up to you who are able to find amazing niche to dominate).
Normally, I just go with "buying keyword" >= 3000 UV/month, average product price > $100

any suggestion for sites like freshstorebuilder and similar? Use it or not?

also wondering the same thing and do your stores have 1 page for 1 item or are you trying to rank for a page full of items

Actually, I've never built an Amazon e-store. The fact is that, why Google have to rank your e-store but not the original e-commerce website (Amazon) since you just copied all content from them.
I will recommend to go with review niche sites only with high quality and unique content (building additional e-store is optional, but it's not important at all)
PS: some people may argue that they built hundreds of mini e-stores Amz sites and earned good income, I don't say you can't rank for such websites (to be honest, you can rank them for very long tail keywords, such as product names), but it's more and more difficult to rank for these sites, and you will be also exposed to higher risk of Amz ban due to mass-copy of their content.

I have a question. I am ranking for my site on first place, the KW is "XXXXX test" and it has about 400 UV/month. Its slowly starting to generate some money.

What are the next steps? More articles to get more traffic from more long tail KW? More link building? Or plan the next affiliate project?


I was thinking of trying to rank for the KW "XXXXX buy", but then i would have to compete with the online shops, so im not sure yet.

1. About your keyword, I will say it's NOT a "buying keyword", so the conversion rate of this keyword (in case you want to sell products) will be lower than "buying keywords". Secondly, 400 UV/month is actually very low volumn (I will suggest you go with at least 1000 UV/month, and ideally, >3000 UV/month - buying keywords, probably) ==> This will be your MAIN KEYWORD (from that, you can estimate your monthly income).
2. Another point, when you rank 1 keyword onto number 1st position on Google, you will expect to receive 40-50% theory volumn of this keyword to your site (in your case, if you rank "XXX test" (400 UV/month) on 1st page of Google US, you are expected to receive 200 UV/month from Google US for this keyword.
Next, once visitors are on your site, there will be about 10-30% of them will click onto your affiliate link (and go to Amazon.com) (the ratio depends on many factors and require you to do CTR optimization). Next, once they enter Amazon.com, the conversion rate (buying action) will be around 3-5% (some can optimize the conversion rate (CR) up to 7-10%)
==> Based on information I gave you above, you can estimate (quite accurately) the income on monthly basis
In a nutshell, I think you're WRONG from the very 1st step: Keyword research; please repeat this process following my guidance, then start Onpage and Offpage again (you will go nowhere with a keyword with 400 UV/month)
PS: another point is that, STAY AWAY from keywords like: "buy XXX"; "XXX for sale"; "cheap XXX" because ... you will simply never defeat e-commerce when ranking for these keywords (it makes sense, right? when people type down these keywords, they're in buying mood and really want to enter an e-store to buy the items)

Hi mate,
I'm writing answer for you in my public thread (it's no problem sharing these knowledge at all)
I almost use Genesis Frame work and child theme from: http://www.studiopress.com/ (I diversify the use of these themes, as long as it's in blog format (not magazine), in other words, a big space for HOME PAGE article and small sidebar to show "review articles", "relevant article", a sticky big sidebar banner.
In homepage, you should first write some USEFUL information (not selling content at all), things like: advantages of using washing machine, 4 common mistakes when buying washing machines, ...)
Next, you make a table to review Amazon products (you can use plugin Table press)
Next, you review best 3-5 products
things like that..the length should be at least 1500, ideally 3000 words

About review articles, it's up to the keyword you're targeting. If you target general keywords, you can review more than 3 products. But usually I just review 1 product/1 review article, targeting product name.

One last thing, when you do your offsite SEO you build links to each of the post right?

Never used silo structure so im not sure if SEO is different or not

In most of the case, I linked back to homepage (PBN links), but sometimes, I link a few of PBN to the highly-potential buying keywords (top of each silo); you can also use web 2.0 to link to these posts URL as well.

By using silo structure (remember to link back to homepage at the end of each silo); you can assure you utilize all the efficiency of backlink, link juice will flow from the top to the end of the silo, thus, transmit the backlink strength to all of your keywords.
