I read couple of articles saying the world will end very soon. If they are right, then SEO will be over as well.

I think there will always be a conflict between search engines and SEO efforts. When a successful SEO method becomes well known to everyone then the search engines will stop it somehow. Then people come up with a better one. Repeat.

It is a nice topic.Hope Google will change a update in his algorithm in 2015.Although It will be very few change..
The only way SEO will not exist, is when every search engines choose by hand what is and is not in first, second, third ect...
Take a look at how far back "SEO is dead" goes. Many of years, back to the years of when you could rank a site just by saying "I am number 1" SEO will not die, it just gets more complex, it gets harder if you do not keep up with it, but it certainly cannot die, as search engines are programme, and all programme can be gamed, can be beat, can be cheated.

The only way G search can get off internet for a prolonged time is by massive consistent h@ck3rs attacks. But I don't see that happening in the next 25 years at least...
the other way G can be completely and ultimately ruined within few days is if it is bought by WF or DP, or if it is gifted to one or both of them. But I can't even see that happening in the next 1,000k years at least, even if those other 2 sites can survive beyond 2015.
