SEO will die in 5 years

With AI becoming better and better every day, there will be a day when Google will have all the answers and will not need websites anymore.

I believe that will happen in 5 years, give or take.

What are your thoughts?
Your plans?

Edit:
I am not talking about the algorithmic changes. I am talking about Google completely changing display results where they omit websites or reduce the number to the minimum.

I just saw a post on twitter where AI was giving 100% accurate and better answers than Google, so I think this is possible
 
SEO is dead/will die.
I have been in business since 16 years and similar thoughts have popped up time to time....
SEO just keeps evolving according to the changes. It will survive. :)

Google and many other search engines started as a tool to give answers to your questions.

Now that they can do that with AI, they no longer need to rely on websites.

I'm not into SEO but as long as there are new products, new books, new trends, new problems, new news... people will create content and people will search for the content.
 
Within 5 years? Not so sure. But yes, eventually.

Which is why SEOs need marketing chops to say employed. Guys doing blackhat shit or just buying a ton of links aren't going to have a job for long.

Gotta learn more "traditional" marketing skills. Customer journey, social and consumer psychology, proper branding, etc.
 
I 100% agree with you OP.
Just think for a second, what if there is no any google listing feature? People will be listing 10 best restaurants in Bronx, NY and generating traffic to their sites. Now if you search about it everyone just head over to the top google listings and checkout the reviews there and that's all!
So, google is catching all the major traffic. No doubt they are gonna cover the other generic searches through AI in the next few years, still they are doing it successfully with People Also Also section, searchers don't even visit the sources when they get the answer straight-forward in the SERPs.

Can't agree with this. Google is here to make money. If he supplies users with all the answers he wrote, to whom can he still sell ads slots?
Anyway, I'm still convinced that AI will change SEO a lot.
 
Maybe we'll end up with AIRO instead: AI Recognition Optimization. Lol. AI is going to cause existential crises on a
massive scale, isn't it?

Obviously, they will continue supplying ads. Ads and answers.
 
There will always be some sort of search. It will be optimized with best possible solutions for people questions/requests meaning that your content will have to produce real value for someone.

Google already killed it by putting the big corporate sites for the big keywords.A peer to peer trustless censorship resistant search engines is the answer this will be web 4.0

Google is a search engine. Not a encyclopedia.
They need websites to show answers. They don't need answers, they need websites to make money.
In these websites they show ads and make money. The owners of these websites pay Google for results via ads.
Again: Google needs websites, they don't need the monopoly of answers
 
I've got two sites that every AI writer service I've tried has been worse than not using an AI writer. The first the niche changes frequently, almost like a news site, current AI just cant keep up. Sites like this won't be replaced in 5 years. The other is in a niche that has very little information available that most writers can't help me with or they stay very broad in their writing but I've done it for a job so know what to write. The problem Google or whoever will face is that they need up to date information for the AI to work, if they stop showing websites will people bother to create sites providing the information.
 
It can be like OP wrote.

AI + ads will stay and that's it.
