I would say Bing Search Console to check/find links & Google Ad Planner for KW research,
They don't get enough mentions, yet both are available for free as part of the top crawlers on the web,
You can get Semrush group buy or trial accs for a deadly cheap price as well
 
I would suggest ahrefs, they offer some tools for free (with limited use)
 
Ahrefs is great if you want to figure out how strong certain words are and whats trending. I use Frase too which helps me with making sure my article is optimized as much as it can be.
 
I agree with many members that Ahrefs is the best free tool available today.
Although of course it depends on the type of tasks you do. I can recommend dozens of good different tools, but unfortunately free ones will always have limited functionality.
 
Use SiteOne Crawler (advanced users) or Visual SEO Studio (beginners) for crawling and pair with Google Search Console for crawl error insights. Ubersuggest and AnswerThePublic for finding keywords and content ideas. Yoast SEO (WordPress) or manually check content performance with Google Analytics. Xenu’s Link Sleuth for full site checks and Check My Links for single page checks. GTmetrix for performance optimization. Free tools often have caps or lack advanced features like JavaScript rendering or API integration. For large sites or complex data extraction, the paid version of Screaming Frog may be worth considering.
 
You can’t go wrong with tools like MozBar, Google Trends, and Screaming Frog (free version).
 
Use Google Search Console and Analytics for performance tracking, Yoast or Rank Math for on-page optimization, and SEOptimer or Screaming Frog for technical audits. Prioritize fixes based on the prioritized suggestions from tools like SEOptimer or Seobility. Create content that aligns with user intent and keyword opportunities using AnswerThePublic and Ubersuggest. Check Google Search Console and SE Rankings weekly to track rankings and address issues promptly.
