Hi bhw fam,

Quick question, Is it possible to rank high on google if I have a lot of social traffic? Or without a good backlink profile is it impossible?

social traffic is not enough... and you also need good content too, not just good links...

If the content is very good and the social traffic is very high is there a chance of ranking high? Or will i also need to build a strong link profile no matter what
 
no social traffic is not can ranked high , you must need good backlink profile.

it's enough if you target easy keywords. But even if you target easy keywords and you manage to rank, at some point you will need to build links because when you site starts growing and people notice it you will get competition and at that point whoever has the most authority (ie. backlinks) will usually rank the highest...

But in the beginning you can focus on content only, but at least find some easy keywords :)
 
social traffic will not get you a higher ranking, he will only get you traffic from social media while you keep posting , building authority backlinks is not a "skip step" if you want to rank
 
You should consider SEO as a whole, and use all the resources available to you for your website
 
If your website Quality of content is excellent then social traffic can help, however backlink is also impact in ranking. we have to use all factors together to rank high and quick.
 
No, i don't think so social traffic would have any effect on SEO.

You will need to follow the SEO guidelines for ranking your website.
 
I think you need a variety of high-quality backlinks. You can combine crowdsourced links from niche or near-thematic forums with links from articles.

You can't get high rankings from social traffic alone

It simply depends on your competence when you search for certain keywords

Lets say that you rank for a keyword and the pages in positions #1, #2 and #3 have 100, 50 and 25 very good reputed links each one respectively.

You don't really need 100 links to go #1 if you content is way better than them and other factors like your CTR is amazing. BUT if you want to move forward from the bottom page 10, and most pages on the top 10 are reputed, you will never appear there without this backlinking profile.

Backlinks build authority, and authority is not the only ranking factor, but is one of the most important to take into consideration.

I understand that many pages don't have a big budget to go into this. But think that ultimately you are building a business, and occasionally, some expenses are required with no guarantees of success.

Yes it is possible but your website content should be attractive by social media audience so they don't get bounce back from the site, otherwise SEO traffic has no comparison
 
Social traffic won't help in rank high in Google. You need good on page SEO, high quality contents and links rankings.
 
Keyword focused articles
Interlinking
link structure
Quality backlinks (do/no follow - good ratio) - SEO/Guest Posts etc etc

And a good planning works better.

Exactly.

In SEO, with ONLY this or that, you cannot rank or sustain on SERP
SO, you need to focus on primary thing first - content, which is a base for your site/blog
 
In most cases, no
Social media traffic dies out eventually and has no effect on SEO
