I was just wondering if anyone knows of anyone who has earned over a million pounds with SEO (or have done themselves or are close to the figure) and is not using other people to sign up to a course or similar. The reason I ask is that i'm quite new to SEO but learning it at a nice rate and I already have a site made up that will be marketed purely via SEO methods. I'm not new to websites just SEO but I plan on transitioning from eCommerce to full time SEO and I just wanted to know if there is serious money to be made over a decade or so of building sites and affiliate sites. Like I said I have more of a eCommerce background but looking to move other to full on SEO as running a couple of eCommerce's stores is quickly killing me with the stress and stopping me enjoying life like one should.

I do millions of dollars in SEO attributed sales every year. Unfortunately for you it is all e-commerce! :)

I know what your saying but out of the 2 eCommerces I run 1 of them has a high return rate due to nature of the business and the stress is mega with a team of people as well. I also do something else that earns over x10 of the eCommerce that involves looking after people which is nothing like that 1 eCommerce I have. Also I have been creating/running a few ventures the last 10 years so know my way around as to speak. As I get older I need to work more wisely you see and also I plan not to SEO for people unless I need to once I have gained the knowledge. The plan is to run aff sites and 1-2 products eCommerces using SEO as the main traffic source.

Nice.. I could do the same over the next 1-2 years (but would not be solely seo) with my eCommerce but its not worth the extra crap that comes with it but I guess i'm in the wrong industry with that 1 eCommerce [IMG]

I guess i'm having a midlife crisis lol.. Can anyone answer the original post?

I'd just dump that one e-commerce that's giving you problems then.

    SEO is pretty saturated now.

SEO is just a way to target your audience. First you are making the wrong questions.

Use all the resources at hand. Dont focus only on one single to get traffic.

    Best of luck.

I'd recommend using SEO to rank websites that earn you money.

I already have a small team but its a high return industry and its high turnover and low profit when your industry has over 25% return rate. But what i'm wanting to know is has anyone earned north of a mill or personally know of anyone who has in the SEO game as I know it could be done eventually but I'm wanting to know so I can plan out a couple of goals etc.

To answer your question... if you are awesome at SEO and awesome at networking you can make $100K-$300K a year... its hard to break that ceiling because you run out of time and end up having to grow into a full service agency to do more.

If you are not good at SEO and networking (sales) then expect to make a whole lot less.

The god's of SEO either make their own marketing firms or they reduce their number of customers for big lucrative commissions from exclusive or in-house engagements.

If you can make 100.00, and you have your system in place, you can make 1,000,000.00.

Make 5,000.00 from SEO and then ask yourself can you put the same process in place in a way that will not out pace your labor and other expenses to scale to 7 figures but until then you are merely dreaming of Unicorns, free popsicles and fluffy clouds.

Almost any business can be scaled to almost any number... McDonald's hamburgers were .15 USD in the beginning and they seemed to have turned that into real money.

The "trick" is to be able to generate the kind of cash you want without losing due to expenses and the only way to find that out is to do it on a smaller scale and see if you can implement processes that allow you to grow and maintain profit margins.

And to answer your initial question, which I am not thrilled to do as you have not earned your 5K yet, yes, you can earn 7 figures in a year in SEO.

Becker and his circle of friends claim to be SEO millionaires. But, they got nothing on CEO Sam.

Ok thanks for that info validseo I now know what needs to be done regarding a few things. The question is still open does anyone personally know of anyone or has earned themselves north of 1 mill doing SEO preferably without running a SEO agency.

Posted this before seeing BassTrackerBoats post. Nice post by the way I see what you mean with the 5K will get some things in to action. Thanks for all the answers as I can now construct a better plan around what needs doing. Also the question is now closed as its been answered :)

The answer to that is yes but you still have to make your first 5K before seeing if you can do it.

Yes. I know quite a few personally who are well over the 7 figure mark... Not teams, not revenue, not agency. But profit, all by their lonesome, from building sites.

There are a lot of guys here who like to ACT like they've cleared a million dollars doing SEO, but the fact is its a longterm grind. Nobody likes to talk about the frame work you need to get big. Getting your site optimized, tracking conversions, actually getting ORGANIZED, getting the right CMS, advertising research, opposition research. Its a GRIND. Hitting your site with quality links if only the last quarter of the game. I get the feeling a lot of guys here have trouble because they aren't organized, don't track traffic and conversions well, and don't put the time/money into a good website.

You should not (I'm 100% sure that you don't also).

I don't and have not for a long time as you are correct as to awesome traffic can be had in a bunch of other ways.
