I recently started a new tech blog.
It has 4 categories:
  • Guides
  • Tips and Tricks
  • News
  • Reviews

I make how-to/guides on a broad topic of technology, such as: SEO, Social Media, Software, Youtube, Iphone, Andoid, etc..

Since my topics are so broad, what keywords do I use to rank my home page?

Should I focus on just ranking the actually content pages and not the home page?

If I should try to rank my home page as well, should I use keywords like "tech blog" "tech how-to's" "Tech Guides" or should I use keywords that relate directly to my tops like seo, social media, xbox, iphone, etc..

Would my main URL (home page) gain page rank or authority if I only focused on getting links for my content pages?

Any other tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Your homepage will gain authority as you build links to your internal pages and with time it will gather enough authority to rank for high competition keywords. So focus on ranking your internal pages for long tail keywords for now.

Build your brand..

Your title can be like this:

Technology latest guides, tips and tricks, news, reviews, and more!

On link building you can use your brand and you can also use "tech guides" etc..

Social Media drives more traffic on that kind of sites.
