SEO is dead, and SEO is alive.

SEO is not dead and in future also it will never dead, infect it comes in a new shape.
Until Google is their, SEO will never dead, Google will never going to kill SEO, but yes, as the time passes they made it more challenging.
SEO for Google just keeps evolving and changing, but under no circumstance it is dead. The rules change, but the game remains the same...
Well said, that the rules change but the game remains same.

Don't want to sound like a noob, but what is SEO?

The people that claim that IM and SEO is dead, claim that because they focused on IM and SEO way to much over producing content.

SEO is only dead to those who have quit and permanently accepted failure at it.

It can't die because it is a skill which is developed...

if you aren't willing to pay the price to develop the skill, then yes...

SEO is dead.

for you.

I love going to SEO networking meetups and talking to these SEO guys.

"SEO IS DEAD" "I'm moving to affiliate marketing" "I'm starting a social media company"

Each time I chuckle a bit as they got crushed because they don't even understand SEO, read a few posts about how SEO is dying.

Less competition for the rest of us, so send those people off with a bottle of champagne congratulating them on their excellent decision.

Both affiliate marketing and social media has to use SEO, which is ironic.

Whenever someone concludes that SEO is dead, it's most likely because they are not patient enough to get results from their SEO activities. SEO takes time and is now a much longer 'waiting' game; that's the only major change that's happened.

Blackhat SEO is dying but I dont mind too much. At least there is less need to be blackhat in order to compete.

This reminds me of "Walking Dead". Dead but has action and float around!

"Is seo dead?" - I must have seen that question posted at least a dozen times this week already.

The answer: SEO is Schrodinger's cat. It is both dead and alive simultaneously, until we realize it to be one way or the other - and it then becomes so.

Nah, I like calling it dead. Keeps the competition down.

SEO should be dead.... at least link based SEO.

Lets all blast our competition with 3 Trillion shitty links and help it along on the way, so we can finally start worrying about our content instead of what tags are pointing at us.

Have fun talking about how SEO is dead or alive, in the meantime others are building and ranking web properties.
If you think it's dead then fine, get out; but as long as search engines will exist there will be ways to game the system.

Most IM'rs that are successful worry about the quality of their content not their links. There's no point in being #1 for a keyword if you can't sell anything.

I see this Lounge thread has lost its way.
