After more than two years working on a few casino affiliate websites I thought I would share some of my experience with you guys.
1) Patience
How do you get to Carniege Hall? By Practice. There is no shortcut to success. If you want to succeed in this niche you either need to have a great traffic-buying skills (FB ads, Bing ads etc.) or if you want to generate your traffic using search engines, you need a lot of patience. Google doesn't forgive anyone and you should really try not to get your domain penalized/sandboxed/under the radar. I have noticed that some older domains (you would say older is better, right?) that once were penalized have a very tough time in SERPs and sometimes you can outrank them with fresh domains. Slow and steady wins the race.
2) KW research
Do a really thorough KW research and if you find a KW like "is online roulette rigged", create a subpage for it (H1 and Meta the hell out of it). Yup, it only has 70 searches/month, but you are building a website that players will crave to visit. You want to answer everybody's questions and Google will recognize this and eventually reward you (just hope the random ranking factor doesn't kick in).
3) Content
... is king. Make sure you every page contains at least 500 words and a few optimized images/videos/flash games etc. I know it's not easy to write such long articles for some boring topics, but you really need to try. The content also needs to be compelling and converting. If you cant convert your visitors to real money players, then you are simply wasting your time. And don't forget to have a nice url structure.
4) Links
Make sure you have a nice variety of links - from directories to expensive articles on high PR sites. As I mentioned in the first bullet, you need to be patient and build the links slowly. If you create a new subpage, add new links to it only after a few days/weeks. Nobody links to a new page right away. And of course don't forget to share new pages on social medias (mainly G+) to inform Google about them.
OK, so far this is nothing new - you can find similar info on any how-to-SEO site, so what's my secret? Frankly, there is none
These four bullets I mentioned is the secret
I was searching for new KWs and planning new pages for them, spending hundreds on new content that was added every week/month and spending thousands on links from niche-friendly sites or high PR websites.
