Does anyone know about raking pictures for Google Images. For a few of my pages i get the majority of traffic from image search. Is it basically the same idea for ranking a web page?

I know that it's important to save the file with a descriptive name like for example "Ford_Truck_2013_for_sale.jpg" and also having ALT and Title tags like "truck, ford, 2013, for sale"

But as far as ranking, do you create backlinks directed toward an image?

I have a website that gets a lot of visitors from google images. It ranks automatically when the site is indexed.. the alt and title are important as well.

How has your traffic been since the google images change?

OP, I say optimize your images as you would think to do (alt text, unique dimension, different format...whatever other metric images have) and until things stabilize with google images so traffic goes to your site, market your images on other image platforms. Making your own gallery site does work well too.

Ya like i said i make sure to add Alt and Title tags (unique dimensions is a good idea too)

But i really want to know if creating backlinks to a specific image will work like it does for webpages. Lets say i wanted to be in the #1 position for google images for the keyword "ford truck". And i did everything i could on the page in terms of content, tags, captions, etc. But would it make a difference if i had some backlinks to that image? Or does google image search work differently then the regular google search.
